The slash 4x4 has differnt bumpers etc. My slash 4x4 along with my friends will outlast any other at the skate park. Thats my experience. I have 3 pede 4x4's too and they are durable but not like the slash. Unlike most folks I have proof on my channel about the slash 4x4 at the skate park! I'm going to disagree with Traxxas making parts to break for replacements. Most folks upgrade with other brands. I work on the electric trucks at my lhs when they need to be repaired. I see this time and time again.

Would you agree with me that the stock ESC and motor cannot handle hard bashing on 3s? Neither can the plastic driveshafts.the cost of a good castle ESC/motor combined with tekno or MIP cvd's is upward of $300. That's just the start of what one needs to make the slash or Pede 4x4 a hardcore basher on 3s.

I will say that it's reasonably durable on 2s....but too slow for my tastes.

My friends and I never had any issues on 3s. But we are comparing a 1/8 buggy/truggy to a sc10. Which the prices are very different. But at the same time the slash 4x4 can be turned into a backslash as well and with some upgrades can handle the higher voltage systems.
I just overhauled mine to handle the mamba 2200. Hoping to shut down my friends with thier buggies and savages once and for all about durability on higher voltage setups.

I'm definitely going with a truggy with beefy tires, like what chainsaw did yet with a truggy. So what should I use for the truggy?

Whichever you want. What brand do you like? There are no e-truggies out so you'll have to convert to electric. Unless you like nitro but giving that you posted in the electric forum... I pointed out the mugen, losi 8ight-t 2.0, assoc RC8t, really any of them that have the conversion kits available. Mugen has their own Eco kit, not sure about losi and associated but I know Tekno has their v4 kits for both of those. Really doesn't matter except for your own personal taste. Almost all the truggies are built like tanks.

Just finished my D8te....pretty much all the parts are the same as my Vorza monster. Except the chassis is much longer...and the body is different of course.

Here's the Vorza and the D8t side by side

I always get a kick out of the people saying "buy a slash to bash with"...SC trucks are not bashers! I can only imagine how tremendously boring trying to bash a slash would be...

If youre building a basher, look into the HPI momster trucks. My savvy was the toughest RC I've ever had. Went over, under, into and through everything I could think of. Jumped my 10' tall shed and nose dove on the other side. Took it like a champ and just kept on going. I never replaced a single part on it, and you need absolutely zero upgrades.

Yeah I agree completely. Slashes are awful bashers. Ya need a bit of ground clearance and bigger tires IMO to bash. You can only really run slashes on groomed surfaces or pavement

Here's my short course-ish basher
Mt4-g3 with a SC lid and 2.8 trenchers
This is a SC you can bash with!

^^^ Pretty sweet! I notice you're from Warwick. I'm from Orange County NY, only about a 30 minute drive from Warwick. You race at the barn in Chester?

Hey. Cool! I have never tried racing... But one of these days soon I'd like to give it a shot. I know where Barnstormers track is...less than 30 minutes from my house. I buy a lot of my stuff from Chris at dirt cheap in Florida NY. What town are you in? Btw..Warwick is also Orange County

I put Proline Trenchers on my D8T with ofna +15mm hubs, and its the best vehicle Ive ever bashed on. The nice thing is, I can throw the stock hubs back on with elevated bead tires and have a solid track truck too.
