Tamiya DF-02 buggy chassis
i am looking for a electric off road kitt.I had once a tamiya boomerang back in 80s. yup!! tamiya buggies a durable.
the latest DF02 from tamiya looks nice for bashing around . BTW there are 2 DF-02 chassis model 1. Gravel hound 2. Rising Storm. from what I can see there are no different between them accept for the bodyshell. Can someone who had these 2 buggies tell me which is better? |
There's one (I think it's the rising storm) that has a little duct in the side to help cool the motor. It especially helps when you have the motor heatsink installed. With that tub chassis reducing airflow over the motor, the cooling does help. It makes it a bit asymmetric, but there are many more powerful forces that can cause your car to yaw. The rising storm I think also has the different spoiler. It grabs a bit more of the air coming off the body instead of letting it pass underneath. This would probably lend itself to more aerodynamic performance with the same downforce, but it could just make the air more turbulent and look cool. Apart from that, it's all about which body style you like best. There's no difference in the chassis itself, and therefore unless you're really into tuning the spoiler and body for just the right front-rear downforce balance, either one will be just fine. You can even grab the body kit for the other model and try em both out.

thats what I notice, there are not diff. chasis accept for the body sells. I prefer the rising storm. more aerodynamic.

The rising storm does look really good, I'm just not a huge fan of pink. The shell comes pre-colored, though, so not much choice. Not a big deal on a kit like this.

nobody run the DF-02?
|
I have seen them and I would get one if it werent for my 4-tec converted to a buggy.
This look good for a 2wd buggy http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKAK9&P=7 and it comes with a electronic speed control. |
Has anyone on these forums used the DF-02 chassis for TCS in the buggy class?
Can you suggest option parts? Best tyres? Best body shell for it? Any other tips? |
u might want to get the alumn dampers and some spring sets to start with
2nd the alumn motor mount. IS that legal in TCS? i never been too. |
yeah i will be using a df02 in TCS this year. it depends on the rules what tyres you can use, but tamiya doesnt have many to choose from. but TCS is in august for me so i havent even thought of options yet :)
