I just tried a new combo for the rear shocks: a buggy front shock body with a buggy rear shock shaft. I had to use .250 (1/4') external limiter on the shock shaft to prevent any possibility of the piston hitting the bladder, but even so, there is still some shock travel left when the car bottoms out with the stock configuration rear tower.

well went to my rents yesterday and forgot ALL my stuff when i went over there which i figured i would do. So after leaving the hospital today (my buddy and wife finally had their baby girl friday) i went to my bro in laws and tried his drill press and out of the 4 drill bits i had only 1 fit in the chuck so i used it and IT WORKED(chuck of drill press wouldnt go tight enough on bit)!!! SO just got home and will be taping them out today while the wifes gone and finally got some free time and gonna threadlock them in...actually the tap i bought to do the droop screw hexes was the same thread pitch as some of the losi screw extras i had(bought a set of screws off ebay for extras when i bought it as a 810)

Looks nice. Now you don't have to hack up your shock towers.

54 and 55 refers to the equivalent number drill size that will make holes the same size as the ones in the Losi 8 pistons which are marked with numbers "54", "55", "56".

But in my testing running the scte are the best. they do where out after a hundred runs. I have three sets and change due to temps. and 20 to 30 degrees makes a difference.. Hope this helps. you can PM me if you need..

try building 3 sets with different oils.
put 1 set on race get times do 5 laps. see how it handles
change to different oils race 5 laps see how it does/
write it all down. testing is key and a pain in the ars but in the long run after 20 laps on the track with a few different changes you should be able to see on paper how it works and then dial it to get better depending on your driving style
I might be able to tell you how to build but your driving style is different then the guy standing next to you. every ones different. all the set up Ideas are for base starting set ups. testing is key.. hope this helps
PS I really like the rcshocx works valves in both my 8 and scte shock builds. I have 4 sets of each. yes I'm nuts. temperatures make a difference when racing. temp the shocks the track the motor write it all down, make a folder.. that way you go to one track take a temp its 50 degrees out side look at your set up sheet go from there. Hope this helped if not just ask again.
