Default Can the Traxxas ESC Training Mode be mimicked with other brands?

Newbie here returning after almost 20 years (still miss my Kyosho Turbo Optima from way back when). I want to introduce my son to RC...we won't be racing or anything, just having fun in the backyard.

I'm considering the following:
- HPI E-Firestorm Flux RTR Brushless
- Associated RC10T4.1 RTR Brushless
- Traxxas Rustler VXL RTR Brushless

I'm kind of leaning towards the HPI, but I like how the Traxxas ESC has a Training Mode to reduce the power by 50% so my son can have an easier time learning without breaking too many parts.

Is there a way to do something 'creatively' similar with the other two brands, such as adjusting the throttle trim on the radio, so it isn't putting out full power? Other ideas?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but thanks in advance!

You can adjust the punch on the firestorm via castle link

Go with the Traxxas. None of the other trucks you listed do the training mode. You may be able to adjust the amount of travel (epa) in the throttle of the others. Since you said your son will be driving/bashing around the Traxxas is the first choice. You can race it too but the Associated is the best race truck of the ones you listed.

Most of the RTR setups (except Traxxas) do not not let you have Training Mode but with most you can turn down the power with a PC and software (the more expensive ones), or you cut back on the EPA on the Transmitters (the nicer ones). you need to get a good 2.4GHz Radio System with or for the truck you get......

The HPI has a OEM castle setup in it so much better ESC and Motor... the Traxxas ESC and motor are not bad but castle is better....
and then what kind of price you looking to spend? if you don't mined me asking...
also look at the SCT 2wd and SCT 4X4, I would go 4X4 for backyard fun or racing.
but for just fun go Traxxas parts are cheap and almost at every Hobby Shop....

If you think you're in for the long haul look for a programmable radio. Even if you're not, you could get the FlySky setup (<$50!) that will let you turn down the throttle endpoint in the kids' profile.

I've been looking to keep it in the $300 neighborhood.

Thanks to everyone for all your valuable insights...it is much appreciated!
