There is a bit more to it than that, not much but some.

To convert you need:

XXX-T Chassis - you can use the shorter chassis of the XXX but handling may suffer. Weight is not an issue.
Front A-arms
Front Spindles & Carriers
Front Axles
Front outer hinge pin and king pins
Front shock tower
Longer Tie rods Front and Rear
Rear A-Arms
Rear Truck Dogbones
Rear shock tower
Rear shocks (1.2 stroke)
*The rears from the buggy will be used on the front of the truck.
86 T spur (personal preference)
Body

Basicly - it's cheaper to buy a new truck

No, I dont think it is too late to get the xxxt. Im sure associated will come out with another one before losi does, since it is a few years older. With that being said, I dont think they would tell you if they were coming out with a new one soon because they want your money now!!!

Default Gearing

Well I just bought my first offroad XXX-T, and have a few queastions about gearing. Anyone have any recomendations on what spur/pinion gears to run? I'll be running a 19turn chameleon mostly and would hate to burn them up.

I notinced on teh losi website on some of the setup sheets, they have listed 24/92 and 22/78

Anyone know where I can get a gear chart or know the gear ratio to make my own?

Thanks.

Hey guys, Just to let you know on the kit update thing. Listen, Companies like losi, associated, etc. have to keep kits coming out.
Its a good thing. Why? Because is gives you more integrated and hi tec parts better than the older truck. I race on-road as well as offroad and in both typs of racing kits are always coming out. Its just companies in competition with eachother trying to come out with an awsome car that kicks all other's ass's. Its just the name of the game my friends, live with it.

Frog-Ide say 22,if that dont work keep going smaller and smaller. With mods, You get your power from small gears. I race Mod 13 turn double xxx-t and I run the Stock Spur with a 16t pinion. In all my cars (Unless its a dramatic change in the track layout) I stay with stock spurs and just mess with the pinion.

The regular xxx-t and the matt francis come with 2 different spur gears so I to gear a 19t motor, I would start with a few less than what you would use for stock. But gearing is so track dependent its mostly trial and error.

I just got bacl from the lhs and all they had was the 88tooth spur gear. Since I dont have a manual for this truck I dont know if there is another. I had a 24 tooth pinion and my stock motor was smelling burned so I went to a 21 and it got better.

What color was the spur? Red is the stock one.
You got to go down on it. I ran a 18 for my stock motor.

ide run 9. But Your time with a mod is gonna dimish fast! Run a 15 or 16 with the 9. I run 13 turn double and i run the 16, I my ideas dosnt work keep goin lower gears. Mods get their power from small gears.

I must of not of made myself clear. I think that the regular xxx-t comes with a different spur than the matt francis edition. The manual states one and the supplement matt francis instructions state a different spur
