Where can i find info about electric motor maintenance?
 

is there a site that shows (pictures would be nice) how to take an electric motor apart and do maintenance to it? I just ordered a 19t trinity chameleon and i want it to last. Is this a good motor?

It's a great little motor for the 19 turn class, or if you want to play around the yard with more power than a stock motor.

Taking it apart and maintenance isn't bad at all. Unhook the springs and take the brushes out of the hoods. Take the two screws off that hold the endbell on, and carefully slide the endbell off. Pay attention to how the shims are stacked on the armature. You can then clean the motor with electric motor cleaner, have someone cut the comm, and then put it back together.

There are 1001 different opinions on the maintenance required to get the most power from an electric motor, but only serious racers need to worry about that.

daltrey, there is a book that's available over on hobbytalk.com called "Big Jims Motor Black Book" that has a lot of good info on these motors. It goes into some theory and answers some questions throughout the book. It's not real long and a pretty easy read. Good luck:D

thanks for the info. looks like i need to pick up a lathe. that sure seems like a lot of brushes to replace. i plan on doing some club level racing this year so i'll probably only keep a couple of motors in new condition. i need to work on my driving skills mostly though. these things are so much fun :D
