Usually 540's
mainly because now with the 4 pole motors, you can get a smaller (540) motor that will push it very well, without the extra weight, since the Losi is a heavy truck already.

Says on the website that 550 size suggested. The reason being is more torgue from the longer can, easier to power a 4wd. Also a 550 will run cooler even with the extra load of pushing a heavy vehicle. Not sure what the new 4 poles will do for you. I would stick with what works, but I am sure someone will chime in and tell you they run a 540 with a 1/10 scale esc and have no problems, but I think heat will be an issue.

Lots of folks using the 540 sized Tekin and Castle 4-poles. I still ur the 550 Novak ballistic. It's got enough grunt for me.

Not the case at all, I run a Castle 1410 3800kv which is a 540 4 pole motor, geared with a 16t on my Losi SCTE and I usually temp at 140-150 after an 8 minute main.
Same with the new Tekin Pro 4, 4 pole motors, they move these trucks quite well, and if they run hot, you've got another problem.

What motors are you looking at, specifically?
Im assuming you have the RTR Losi, that motor was meant more for use on 3s, as its a bit of a dog on 2 cell.
Its the same motor as the Castle 1415 2400kv, and the esc in the RTR is a rebadged Castle MMP.
You can either throw a 3s in your truck and watch it come alive, or go with a smaller 4 pole motor and watch it rip on 2s.

Been covered about a thousand times on the Ten-SCTE thread.
Run whatever you want, no real advantage either way really... Just pick one and go fast! 550's are great and the next generation 540 4 poles are great too, just make sure your esc can handle it!

Anytime! I personally think my current set-up is hotter than sliced bread Tekin RX8/Pro4, I went with the 4000 just because I don't need crazy HP but I still have it on tap whenever I pull the smile lever! That is also known as the throttle trigger on my DX3R!
