Default Tire Confusion!?!?!

Hello rctech
Everybody at my track runs suburbs or panther switch.
Niether of witch i like after many test runs.
I am on a tight budget and want a tire that works for me and has good wear overtime.
I run on a small indoor tight track. it is a hard packed clay (almost like cork?!?).

Everybody at my track runs the clay compound tires which is what i tried.maybe should i try a softer compound as i am in need for more traction?
But then the tire would wear faster.
I guess its just a tradeoff
more traction=more$$.

My question is how can i find a tire i like while on a tight budget?!?!?

What car/truck are you running?

Is your car set up right for the track?

A few ball stud washers wrong on a turnbuckle or moving upper shock hole can make a car seem loose even with the best tires.

Ask some of the regulars that have the same car you do to help with your setup.

Suburbs and switch are what we run at our track.

There are some others that work like Rattlers and BK bars but for the most predictable we go with switch and suburbs. Suburbs seem to last a little longer for me.

Good luck

a softer tire may work . It basically trial and error. A softer tire may also cause the car to be squirmy in the corners if your on highbite clay but if your looking for more overall bite it may be better for you.

I run on the same type of track, small, high-bite, low dust. I run suburbs in the rear and barcodes up front (stadium truck). Sounds to me like you're having a set up issue. What class are you in?

For the most part also if u check with the fast guys and what there running isn't working(tire wise) then it may be a setup issue as someone stated.

Panther Ratlers and Switch 2.0's in clay sound like they work. Right now Panther still has our Holiday promo going. Use Promo code "BOGO" and get 50% off your entire order : www.pantherteam.com

I think tire choice really is all about preference. Over the summer I was a second or two off the pace in corr 4x4 on the same tires the fast cats were running. I just couldn't get comfy with city blocks or calibers. They were fast but real inconsistent. I went to snipers and picked up those 2 seconds. LOL! BTW, 50% off is sa-weeeeet!

-One washer under ballstud on shock tower
-0 degree hub carriers
-Turnbucle on outer hole on hub carrier
-Rear sway bear, gold bar

-Camber looks -1 ish

-1/2oz next to reciever
-1/4 oz in each triangle (4 triangles so 1oz total)
-Battery Placement is forward
-A-arms are below level, front and rear
-I have tried panther switch,sc10 stock, proline suburbs, jconcepts subcultures and didnt really seam to like them but if i had to choose i would go with the suburbs

Don't quote me on this but i think they are wider. Like proline 2.0s, they should be wider. It will just give you a wider contact patch= more stability and traction. Once again don't quote me on this until confirmed

I'm also looking to buy some panther tires, but i have a few questions before i do. What is the difference between the yellow molded foams and the white soft foams? Which is better? And what is the difference between clay and super soft compound? I always buy super soft from AKA and JConcepts but i run on a low traction, very hard packed clay track so seeing the clay compound made me wonder. Which ones are better? Thanks!
