LOL I don't even know the year but I got a Mugen Manx for christmas. I wanted a Grasshopper... This was before the RC10 first came out IIRC. In fact this was just before the first ESCs came out. I remember the sliding wiper speed control with three speeds with the wire attached lol..

I remember reading these ads! Oh, and I still have the box for the stupid thing. LOL

I remember buying my first RCCA around the time that I was 12, in 1987...I was just drooling over a Futaba FX-10 because the tagline said "comes equipped with a stock 05 motor which is the largest size legal for sanctioned racing"...sadly, I didn't have funds to buy my first RC until 1992 (Stadium Blitzer) but I sure as hell collected alot of them RCCA mags to fill my addiction until then.

I got two R/C cars at the same time, they where both given to me by a good friend. I got them both in a box and they needed to be restored. Here are some pictures of them after I fixed them up.

Nichimo Exceed 443 from the early 80's
4WD 4 wheel steering 3 diffs, had a single shock in the front.

and a 1984 MARUI BIG BEAR
Had oversized tires, springs and no shocks.

Default My first rc car

About a year and a half ago my dad got me a little eletrix tuck from a hobby shop, i still have it, but we've stripped it down to the chassis and body mounts for parts, it's still collecting dust in the garage, we plan to make it into another backyard basher.

The original tyco turbo hopper is what got me hooked. It was just as cool as the sweet commercials portrayed.. circa 198?

I've got a box of those magazine in the attic.

My favorite ever was all the Tunderdrome race coverage from the January 1990 issue. Man did I want to go to that race!!

It's kind of fun to look through the old mags. If you have a RCCA on-line subscription your can read through most of their archives on-line. A lot of the ads are missing though which is a bummer. Those are fun to see too.
