I am totally new to ELectric and have a few questions? I am putting in a Novak SS 5800 Brushless and ESC in my XXX-T. I was wondering

- Which batteries I should use without causing harm to the motor. I currenlty have 7.2V NIMH batts now, but would like more speed. I do not prefer to use Li-Poly so what other choices do I have for SPEED and longer run times?

- And about how fast would I go with a 5800 installed with the right battery set up?

GP3300's are the best an to make them even faster add on a 7th cell to pump out more horses

Avoid the 3600 cells from Sanyo. They don't put out as much voltage as the GP3300 cells. Most packs made from GP3300 cells will charge up close to 3900mah.

From what I have seen of the brushless system, it is a bit slower than a good 12 turn motor. Loads of torque however which in a truck works out great.

If I was sticking with the brushless system, I would go and get battery packs in the 1.17+ voltage range matched at 30amps.

Promatch has some great packs if you are looking for a matcher to buy from.

I think I am going to go with the GP 3300 packs 7.2V I believe. I do not want to build or start soldering packs so I will stick with the already made 3300's

Jeemann,the SS5800 would do fine against 12T brushed motors and as for batteries you can get matched,assembled GP3300s from www.maxamps.com for under $30.00

I currently am using Tamiya plugs should I switch to deans or something different? I am not sure this will make a whole lot of difference, but I hear and see alot of people using those deans plugs.

Deans plugs are the way to go.

Matched packs are single cells matched to discharge at the same rate I believe. So that in a pack of 4, 6, or 7 one or more of the cells doesn't die faster than the others which will make your battery seem to die off sooner than it should. In time that will ruin the cells that lose power first.

Here's my question. My buddy has a competition electronics pit bull. Somebody above said good 3300's will charge to 3900. Does that mean he should set his pit bull to charge above 3300, then it will detect the peak and shut itself off somewhere above 3300? What I'm really asking is if he sets it to 3300, might he not be getting a full peak charge? Thanks.
