Default My PL6 project... Must see!

Hey guys,

after two weeks research, buying, selling, more research, more buying, more selling, here is what i came up with. I only have the components, but have yet to install everything. I am hoping the little cheapy case i bought will hold up.

* Two FMA PL6 chargers
* Two Meanwell RSP-1000-27 (1000w 27v PFC)
* Tool case from Home depot ($25
* Accessories from both EPbuddy and ProgressiveRC (not in photos)

I hope you guys like it! I hope it charges better than it looks. I have no experience with the FMA chargers. I hear they are great. I haven't even power up everything yet to make sure they work. It's a slow progress, but i'll get to the finish product soon.

I want to give special thanks to both Tim Marks and Mark (mrforsyth) for answering a lot of my questions. These guys are on RCgroups.com...

This project was approved by the Obama administration! Haha!

It should be AC current hungry. I got the PFC type power supply. The current concerns are on the non-PFC power supply. I spoke with the meanwell support, and they said at full operations, the RSP uses around 10.1A (which is PFC). The non PFC was at 16A. Since Im running at 27V, I can only achieve around 816w out of the 1000w. Therefore, I should be using around 8A per system on the AC side. These are all trivial calculations. I'm hoping its my reality as well.

I would definitely not fly with that thing. What exactly is the point of this pretty sweet looking charger case of doom?

To charge at 40A! Which is 8c for 5000mah packs. I can charge two 2s 5000a (14v) in series at a whopping 40A. That's a whopping 670W per system.

1) just because I want to
2) to charge at the lipos charge capacity
3) reduce setup at the track. Just open the case, plus to AC, and start charging.
4) it was an interesting project for me.

I once asked many years ago, "what's the point of an iPod?"

I would definitely secure that case to your pit table somehow. Somebody could close the case and walk off with your very nice charging setup in a heartbeat.

I used the foam that came in what looks to be that exact same case to make the charger more or less a snug fit so all i haveto do is plug in power and im good to go....the foam also makes a great transport if you cut out battery slots

Dude...Sweeeet...

Your gonna have to tap into Al Gore's house to power that bohemoth.

Or buy a Miller diesel powered generator/arc welder...

Very nice!
