Every class is valid. You don't like it, don't race it.

SC are a fantastic entry class. They are so durable and have great scale looks. Lets hope it's here for a very long time. It's fair enough that ST had to pay the price, look at what SC has done. I see buggy only drivers who started out with SC only a year ago, but don't drive SC anymore, they are just pumped on buggy.
But can you handle the contact in SC. I would much rather be racing with caliber drivers all ass puckering when inches from each other because you know if you touch it wont be pretty. Clean racing is always awesome. That's the joy and skill of open wheel, look at F1.
Mod ST = power wheel stands
Personally I'm not into scale looks. I prefer something to look like a specialised sports instrument. Which is why I like ST and Buggies. Something the lay person would look at and go "what is that? Looks expensive." Rather than just looking at it as a toy. So swings around about.
If you like ST and it's not running at your track. You just need to be proactive and talk to people who have them, get enough numbers to ask for a heat on race day. Mod truck is excellent after all. That's what I did at my local track.

I personally like the open wheel classes though. They are more responsive, more challenging, and most importantly... don't have that sct body sound.
Its great to see the 22t reviving the class, even before its released. And as you mentioned, it only takes a few to come out and get a class going. I've been the "run stadium truck!" guy at our local track for the past couple months and it went from no class to 10 trucks in just a few weeks. Everyone is having so much fun with it, that it seems to be growing too.

More 4x4 sc than Stadium truck?

My first kit was a RTR SC. I got it because everything was in the box, and it was the biggest class at my local track.
Now that my driving has progressed, I feel I've outgrown it. I much prefer 2WD buggy, or Stadium truck, but ST is VERY hit or miss at my track. When I did pick up a ST, I was the only run running it.
Now I just stick to buggy. It's refreshing to run the SC once in a while, but it's not as fun without a mod motor in it or good, clean racing.

Reasons SC has trumped Stadium trucks for now:
1. Closed wheel - means you can tap another truck and keep going, instead of getting "tangled up" with open wheel trucks. In other words, They are either not gentleman racers, or they can't keep their truck straight
2. More durable (generally) - The large bumpers and body are responsible for this. Whether its crashing head-on into a marshal's ankle, or taping a pipe at the end of the straightaway, the bumpers result in less breakage. If you are hitting marshals and pipes,You'll get popular real quick. Marshals here will put your truck upside down in a corner, if you hit them three times, Hobbyshop will love the money you will be spending on broken parts Due to pipes, no matter the class
3. Realism - It is somewhat difficult to envision stadium trucks in full scale; People ask: do they exist? Why does it have to be real? you can't ride in it
If you take away one of these aspects, the vehicle will lose popularity.
I predict that SC Buggies (like the new Axial Terra Buggy and Losi XXX-SCB) will not catch on like the SC Trucks, because they are open wheel.

I do agree that SC buggies might not take wind Due to what you said.
Wow, I believe this wins the award for the most ignorant post in the thread. Why did you even bother to post this? There is a good conversation going on here about SCT's and ST's with a lot of good points being made on both sides. If you like SCT's that's cool but don't try to knock guys that like ST's. I hate to break it to you, but open wheel racing isn't for "Sissys" as you said. It takes a lot of skill to run fast and clean with open wheel cars.
Not so long as there are those holding the torch for it, People like you run to the trends. MT lost to truggies, ST is losing to SC for the moment, Crawlers are losing ground to scale trail trucks due to the sheep flocking to the trends

Truth is stadium trucks are way better. They allow you to go faster and handle better. In the hands of the right guy the ST will walk around 4x4 SCs all day... I have seen it... SCs need to go away and be slashes again and we need some real handling cars .... I don't care about the "REALISM" of SC because first of all there just toys in the first place and second how realistic is doing back flips and pretty much trying to fly your car in 1 mph wind. Also the fact that people take it as a smash through everyone class is crazy not at a pro level but even at a skilled club level people think they are bumper cars! Sorry for my little rant I see nothing very appealing in SCs
and believe it or not ST class in my local race area is starting to make a come back. Even before the new losi.

I see alot of the fast kids driving stadium trucks as a "get ready" class for 2wd buggy.
The Rookie classes at big races, you see alot of the faster kids under about 12 driving ST's due to the fact, if you can get out front, your power to weight, turning and jumping is so much better with the ST. But most places here so.cal will just throw them in with 2wd buggy. My son ran SCT to start with and by no means is he above racing a SCT, it's just when he moved out of rookie it was either sport sct or stk buggy/truck, we just happened to stumble upon a T4 and the rest is history.
I enjoy this Hobby with kid alot, so I will always be a fan of SCT, cause in my area the SCT keeps the tracks open.

I have to agree with some of you, Short Course is fun with the realism and all but ST is by far my favorite class, now if and when the Losi comes I will have one, but thats another rant... Now which class for me is easier to drive, short course of course! But can I be faster with a SCT vs a ST, hands down the ST will be faster! They dont push like a lunchbox on wheels and can lay down more power with the smaller diameter/wider tires.
As far as who is better? To each his own... Whatever puts a smile on your face is good!
