Default Who here has had a Lipo fire occur?

I try to keep myself scared of my batteries due to their potential for major destruction if one were to go off in my house.

Ive been getting a little laissez faire around them, slapping them on the charger and then leaving to the RC shop to pick up a new part so they are ready when I return.

I have a hard case and a soft case Lipo.

Since I added velcro on the bottoms of the batteries I never have damage from racing them around the track.

I buy identical batteries, 14.8v, 5000mah, 4S so I dont even have to adjust my charger between packs.

I think I need a reminder, outside of youtube of people purposefully improperly charging Lipo's to create a Lipo fire, who here has actually had a Lipo fire occur, how did it occur and what measures did you take to prevent it in the future from happening?

My #1 fear upon returning from the RC Shop after slapping an unattended Lipo on the charger is to see black smoke billowing from the house, I think I need a shock treatment from a survivor of a Lipo fire, who can remind me just how easily these things can go off, if left unattended.

Good question.... I dont charge unattended.. but I have heard of people not storing them correctly and having them blow up days later.... So I would like to hear others input as well....

Im curious too. I have never really thought about that happening either. Another question is how many people here use lipo safe charging bags also?

Just saying I have had 4 on a metal shelf that have been fully discharged for about 10 months next to 15 other lipos unprotected. Nothing has happened. The hype that surrounds these things is just silly.

I never had a lipo fire and im still new to lipos its pretty much fool proof chargeing them and taking care of them . Heck i even run two "4s soft case lipos" and never had issues.

I store my after every race day when i get home since i dont race every weekend.

Good as new.

But if you have a exposed connecter and it touches something metal oh yea fireworks !

Teammoose: I agree hell even a guy i race with had his lipos puff up on him more than once he just let them sit and cool down and charge them back up and it was fine.

JimmyS: Just use a lipo bag while chargeing your lipos at your house off the carpet even though i do it and nothing happens.
I use a bag just incase something happens dont be scared of lipos.

I dont remmend that though to anybody hes crazy lol.

Yeah I have 2 puffed ones that I still run and then one that the balance wires touched the positive wire and smoked that I cut off the balance wires and still use. I do have a lipo bag I use for charging 50% of the time. I only charge at 1c though all the time.

8.89 total voltage? Or 8.89 per cell? Either way it ain't right!
