No bad for DIY for free. When I first started charging my lipo's i soldered longer wires for the balance leads to get it farther away from my charger. Now I have an extender. Also you don't have to balance you batteries every time. One of my batteries i can't but I usually balance them about every 3rd charge or so. If you don't plan on using you Lipo for a while, like storage, there should be a setting on your charger called storage. Store your batteries at 3.7v/cell or 7.4v for a 2s.
about your radio. You can go to your LHS and take your Radio and tell them you need crystals for your Transmitter (TX) an Reciever (RX). But in all honesty I would just trade your TX and RX with the TRAXXAS Power-Up program. All you have to do is go to the web site, click on support, select your modle and the power up you want. It will cost less than a new 2.4 GHZ tranmitter and Reciever. As far as range it depends on what route you go.

Thanks, as I stated I also got a plane metal craftsman tool box that I store that box inside of for extra protection. Is it ok to keep the batterys in the garage all winter long. I am sure it gets cold in there in the winter lowest Ive seen it is 18F but im sure on some of these winter nights where it gets to like -8 or so it get colder. I just feel more comfortable with those lipos sitting in 2 metal boxes on a cement floor instead of in my bedroom. and for the lhs and trade it, ill rather keep my old......use for a different vehical and buy all new for this thing. when should I put the batterys on the storage setting? if im not going to run the car for 2 days? a week? a month? what?

If you want a cheap glitchy brushless system, go with Castle. Castle is fine for bashers, but if you race seriously, a Castle system will make you go crazy with it's consistent glitches that happen at the most inopportune moment. Go to any major ROAR race and there will be few, if any Castle systems. If you want a true racer's brushless system, go with a Novak. Novak makes the best motors, but they really need to get on the ball and make a 540 4 pole soon! Their ESC's aren't as good and top of the line as they used to be though. Tekin and LRP are making the best ESC currently, but Novak makes the best 540 and 550 motors hands down.
*The views and opinions expressed by myself are based on owning several different brushless systems, designing a brushless dyno and testing several different brands of ESC and Motors (google mattnin brushless dyno). These views don't necessarily represent the opinions of bashers or noobs who may feel the need to flame me after this post *

Thanks for the info. Yeah I am not planning on racing. its just a basher let the dog chase it and stuff. If i get new again Ill most likly give novak a shot. I think next will be a 4wd truck. I want something thats exactly like the rustler but 4wd I dont want a big monster truck or a street car I want pretty much a cheap e revo LOL

got some new tires today. put them on the stock rustler rims. no traction on cement but in the grass OMG love it. So now I got off road and on road tires

For battery sotorage I would charge the for storage if not bieing used for more than 2 weeks. As far as temperature it's recomended for storage between 40°F and 80°F. Since you have the batteries in a fire proof box i would put it in the laundry room. Lipo's are many times safer than old ones.

thanks. Ill rather not have them in the house at all though. ill figure our something. I guess what I should do is buy a cheap lipo cause it to explode inside my box and see how it contains is. id hate to come home house be ashes and be like well I guess my lipo box failed.

the 6900 is fast Thinking of getting the novak 5.5 540 ballistics motor and giving that a try....thinking gear it low for bashing all terrain with my larger tires gear it high for on road speed. Just wondering if its possible to reach high speed with a 2s battery. I notice the traxxas motor is only 3500kv and capable of doing 70+ with the right gearing and 3s 8000mah battery......I would like to be able to hit 80 on a straight flat paved area. can I get any where near that with the right gearing and a 2s 5000mah 40c

Ill never buy novak again. After 8 packs my ESC died on me.

I bought my castle mmp esc used and no issues with it. Just my castle 6900KV runs hot but im running large tires and running it off road which that motor is not recommended for. thats why im thinkin of going to the 5.5 novak was just looking for some other opinions.

True, but after doing the research I should have done prior to buying it I have gathered that it is not a freak coincidence. I really wish I had spent the extra and went with a TekinRS.
