Angry Brushless is getting very fast hot!

Hey,

i'm new to the forum and my english is not so good so i'm sorry :s
I just bought me an Rc18b2 2 weeks ago with a Tekin min rage ESC and Brushless(6900kv).So i'did install all and it was fine. But after 2 minutes runtime the Brushless is getting like 60°(140 °F).Well i use a 3s lipo 1300 mah.And 60 spur with 16 pinion cuz the 11 is rubing the belt.. So my question is did i made something wrong and how can i get the temperature down?

140deg F is fine, check it after 6 min. If it gets up to 180, consider gearing down. If its over 180, definatly gear it down.

I've drived already 5 min or less and it was a littl bit over 80° (180°F).But the pinion rubs the belt when i put in a smaller pinion. And then it's still getting hot.
I'm really angry because nobody knows why and it just can't be the gearing.I don't know

It's your gearing plus running the 3S, that is just too extreme of a setup to run for any length of time. That setup on 2S is perfect, otherwise you have to gear down 4 or 5 teeth. I ran into the same problems with my SC18 so I just ran it on 2S. If you can't gear low enough because of the car's design then it isn't the motor's fault.

It's decently fast on 2S, I was disappointed to see that the gearing was restricted due to the belt setup. For 3S I ended up putting the 5500kV in and it was still plenty fast for me! I run the 6900kV on 2S only now, and the 5500kV on 3S is faster. Still gets pretty warm running continuously.

So you can run the 5500kv on 3s without problems?

Yep! I used to run the 6900kV on 3S in the old shafty RC18T since I could get the right gearing on there.

And what gearing are you using there for running it without reach over 180°F?

Not for just 2 minutes .

Change gearing and/or go to a 2S lipo .

I'm rockin' the 9000kv mongoose system in my 18b. Running 2s and reasonable gearing. Set-up to run on carpet, it hauls and stays pretty cool.

Just an FYI Hobbypartz has some genace 2s that fit great in my 18t for about $10 or so. To try it out you could pick up a couple for cheap. They are 1550mah though, they have some 1800's but are sold out.
