Radio recommendations.....
Hey gang! Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but here goes. I will be racing two classes next season and it would make life easier to only take one radio to the track. For those out there racing more than on class and use only one radio, what do you use, why, and any advise/recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks

The bottom line: Airtronics M8.
You don't become the industry standard by coincidence.

Yes, the M8 is the best radio for racing. A majority of racers use it & it has alot of good features.

Hey.
I wouldn't go that far................. It doesn't do anything that other topline radios can't do...
Its more popular in the US but certainly not here in Australia.. I bet the UK and Japan are different again.
M8, Mars R, Helios, even the futaba radio are all pretty much equal. Go on what ur LHS stocks, what YOU feel comfortable with.

m8s are great radios hands down, but i found it to be too bulky and didnt fit my hand to well, so i went a step down to the mx3 and love it

No, merely an opinion.
But when 9 of the top ten drivers in the U.S. run it..it's close. It is the oldest of the current crop of high-end radios and still voted the favorite by the magazines and people who buy their stuff.

Hey guys the M8 is a great radio but i still prefer the KO ex1 mars r personally. It just fits my hand better.
If i was just getting a top line radio tho it would be between the Mars R and the M8.

BTW, anyone looking for a near-new M8?
My vote is for the KO EX-10!

I think the M8 is the US industry standard!! Things are very different here!!
The KO EX1 Precious/Mars range has been around since the mid 90's and the actual EX1 shape has been around since about 92/93!!
In the end its all about personal preference. What ever fits your hand i guess.... me i am a KO Mars kinda guy.

i know my word might not seem much, but as i tried a helios, i was amazed at how comfortable it was and how compact it was (thats why i bought one, it was also the cheapest at 264.99 shipped) . I tried my friends m8, but i found my hand somewhat cramped behind the display. But yes, i must say the m8 probably has the most supporters, as it is the most abundant radio at the track. I havent tried the 3pk, but i heard its complicated to use. Thats my ideas, and im sorry if they are somewhat biased.

The Mars radios have been out forever but I believe KO considers the Helios its flagship radio.
I like the signal strength and the ergonomics of the M8. The way I hold my radio and the size of my hands make the M8 the most comfortable for me.

I have Both,a Helios for on road and an M8 for my off road cars,I like both,The M8 IS easier to use but the Helios is more comfortable.(but the weight of a radio when I race is never a problem..like I notice.. )On the cost side of it, JR makes a nice radio,So is the MX-3 by Airtronics..And I do think that the M8 is the industry standard,The M8 was the first hi end radio that you did not have to keep your manual in your pits.. It did set the "bar" for other radios.I do also own a JR XR3i and an MX-3 as well.

You really can't go wrong with any of the top level radios out right now. It mainly comes down to how the radio feels in your hands, how much you like the particular interface a radio has, and availability. Go play with a 3PK, M8, Helios, R1, etc and see which one you like the best. That's really the only way to make the decision IMO.
