Kyosho RB5 vs Team Associated B.1

I'm planning on getting into off road racing now. Which car would be better B4.1 or RB5?

Parts availability= huge advantage Associated having said that I found the associated to be a handful to drive. The Kyosho is in my opinion a much smother easier to drive vehicle.

The parts for the rb5 are all at amain but if you want to support your lhs, then youll probably be out of luck. The b4.1 is getting old and there will probably be a replacement for it before too long...So you wont want to buy something and next season a brand new car comes out. Both are able to perform very well are both are quality cars. The simple answer: you should get a TLR 22

You'll want to take into account spare parts availability but if you're like most racers, you'll just place a big order of the commonly broken parts so that's not AS big of an issue. Aside from that though, the only way you can tell is to drive them. With the technology today, you can't go wrong with a TLR-22, a XXX-CR, AE B4.1, the RB5, the TRF201, Durango's 2wd, TQ's 2WD, Academy's, they're ALL very capable buggies. Each one has a slightly different driving characteristic and that's what will make you love it or not, how it fits your driving.

Go to the local race track, see if a few guys will let you drive their rigs and decide what you like. You can't go wrong with any of the bigger manufacturers buggy, the brand won't be the reason you win or lose.

Ive drove both , but owned the b4 . IMO the b4 is more capable and easier to drive for a begginer , but i would wait for to see what new cars come out after the nats and what uprgrades , but team associated FTW .

Find a 2wd buggy on the market today that you like and then pick one. You aren't guaranteed to win with any of them but any of them can be made to win.

Neither are better, its all personal opinion.......... Like stated above just about any rc can be setup to be a great racer, in the end its all on the person behind the transmitter........

my particular favorite is the rB5.1. It turns well, drives a straight line, and jumps.

All kidding aside, i had them both and they both don't suck. I wouldn't take anyones opinion over another and do a little research. find out what you like in the buggy and choose that way. I wouldn't worry about parts, amain and speedtechrc have never let me down with my kyosho parts.

ive driven b4.1 with the common track setup and ive driven rb5 with older tebo setup. i gave my bro back the b4.1 said u can keep it.

he him self would rather drive the oldmans rb5 over his b4.1 and its not even a dialed in setup.

I've owned two RB5sp/2's and B4's over the past years. Back and forth with hem. Poeple would lol at me for switcjhing. I liked them both. Then I tried a 22 and sold it. It was good too but to me not my cup of tea I guess. I finally got another B4 in a trade and made the limo chassis for it... Now I nvr could get 13 laps on our track and as soon as I got the B4 Limo setup....bam!13 lapper.

So I guess I'm rabbling on but for me It's preference. What works for you and makes you happy. Drive it.

Lots of good advice for you so far. I'll add that you should see what others are running locally at your track(s). Having help from more experienced racers who have a good setup for the track will make the learning curve a bit easier.

Also lurk in the b4 and rb5 threads too to see what owners are saying about their cars and how helpful they are to other racers with questions. Of course we will all be biased to whatever we're running.

My son just went a lap faster first time he drove his new Rb5. Had been driving an updated B4 for 6months. The Rb5 jumps better and turns nicer. You don't have to muscle it around. I'll be joining Team K car soon as well.
