Default gearing for MBX5Te w/ MMM 1800kv on 6s

i've got a tekno v3 MBX5Te and i need to order the stupid long shank pinion, and at $17 each i don't want to have to order multiple pinions to find the right gearing. anyone running a similar setup that can help me get the right one?

it will be run on a 6s 5000mah 30c pack. i'm NOT looking for top speed, i'm trying to have a really cool running setup since the MMM is known to fail, that's why i have the lower kv motor and higher voltage pack.

any help will be much appreciated!

according to the speed calculator, i'd be geared for around 40mph at nominal cell voltage if i use a 13t pinion. is that what most people are gearing for?

I think you will be fine running a 12-13t. I'm running a 14-16t in the D8T with 14/50 gearing.

Good luck,

Nick

awesome. i will go ahead and order the 13t.

i hope the tekno long shank pinions are hardened, i don't think i can get a plastic spur for the MBX5T

That 1800 is race ready with 4s, 5s would be fine bashing but 6s will be crazy fast. Then add a long shank pinion and your asking for your front bearing to go out on that motor. Is there not a way to move the motor up so you can use std pinons?

i'm not sure. i don't have the motor just yet, but i will be getting it soon in a trade. i'm not racing, i'll just be bashing. i've read that you have to use the long shank pinions with the tekno v3 conversion. i'm not running 6s for speed, up trying to go with the "gear down, volt up" philosophy to lower amp draw and have a cooler running setup with longer run times.

The AE RC8 diff fits perfectly with no mods or anything and has a couple of plastic spurs for it.

The MBX6E has some plastic spurs also, can't see why these wont fit.
