Could it?Yes, but for how long? I would never recommend a 6000k motor on 3s. What is it your trying to do?

Um I am using it with friend and we are really competitive with who has more power but I also sometimes go the track but I can just program my esc to not so much power so I can control it. By the way the car is a stock (besides the 6100kv motor) thundertiger sparrowhawk XXT 4x4 1/10th
Thanks
P.S I just want to know if it it will work without anything overheating or breaking so don't say you will have so much power and it will crash and break.

I looked on the website it say "voltage range" 6-8 cells.
It doesn't say if it's nimh or anything. Hmmm

Get a Castle 1410, that will run on 3S and blow the doors off your friends truck on 2S.

6100kv 540 on 3S will not last long. Your friend will be laughing at you while your truck smokes to a stop then catches fire (not really).

That motor on 3S would be around 73,000rpm, which is too much and you'll likely blow the magnet to pieces. 8cell NiMH would be faster than 6cell NiMH and just barely have an RPM edge on 2S Lipo. I think you'll find that even 2S would be plenty fast with that motor and it won't be a good track setup.

If they only rated it for 6-8cell then I would stick with only a 2S Lipo or the recommended NiMH cell count.

I told him this about 3 weeks ago. "Get the 3800 castle". Instead he gets 6100! One of these kids that asks questions, but already knows the answers he seeks. So unless you are agreeing with what he wanted to hear, it's disregarded. Can you say "sstumpf"?

The answers are as follows.

You can get a 3S motor. Get the Castle Creations 1410 1y 3800KV SCT motor, it handles 3S and will destroy any competition. You can buy the Combo and sell the ESC for ~50. You can even buy the motor alone on Ebay for ~60-70

As for 8NiMH vs 3S LiPo

A NiMH has a nominal voltage of 1.2V so 8 cells x 1.2V = 9.6V

A LiPo has a nominal voltage of 3.7V so 3 cells x 3.7V = 11.1V

For the record a 2S would work out as 2 cells x 3.7V = 7.4V

I'll be the first to say that is oversimplified but the end result is clear. The 3S Lipo provides more Voltage than the 8 NiMH. The 3s will be faster. If you can't get the 3S then 8 NiMH may be faster.

Buy the CC 3800KV, you will not be disappointed.

Exclamation

It might be able to handle a 3s LiFe battery at 9.9v nominal.

Yea by his post last night I assume he already purchased the motor... Run it on 3S, it will run but not for long. You could run it on 6S if you wanted to. Your limited by your wallet... If you don't mind buying motors, pump all the volts you want into any motor.

Guys are buying the wrong stuff for their applications... You want to do speed runs, buy a DM1 Spec and quite messing around with trying to make something that was not designed to go fast, go fast.
