Default Gearing a 1400 in an ECO!

Guys this is a great thread so I've found myself asking a few questions of my current setup. Here's what I have and what I'd be considering as a change:

Current:
Mugen ECO
T8 1900kv
RX8
4s 5200 mah 65c
16T pinion
Avg main length 10-12 minutes

Considering:
T8 1400
6s 3300mah
C rating: ?
gearing: ?

Can you guys make recommendations on gearing my ECO for medium to large outdoor tracks on 6s and the T8 1400kv?

He does not specify in his opening post but the premise behind his question applies to both platforms. High voltage low KV seems to be the main theme.

I havent ran 6s. I generally stick with 4s in my 1/8s and MTs. But I perfer lower KV and higher gearing or voltage oner lower with higher KV.

I did another thread on the general comparison between low kv/more cells setup and high kv/less cells setup here:

I run 6S 1400 on MBX6 Tekno V4 (46 spur) and use a rather high gearing due to some large tracks. I use 17T and love it
My 3300mAh are 45C.

What kind of times are you getting out of 17T on 3300mah(how low do you take your Lipo cells)? How's the accelleration off the line? What's the temp of the motor after?

The higher the voltage is the less you need C for your lipos

Very nice! How much run time are you getting with those packs and what brand are they? Have you compared weight against a comparable 4s setup?

I run a 16t pinion now and would have thought a higher toothed pinion would be required. How does the top end feel against higher KV setups you race against?

Thanks for the details!

6S 1400kv reaches 31080rpm which is the same as a 4S 2100kv would

The RPM yield is the same, true, but a 6s setup is much more aggressive on the low end than the comparable 4S setup, which I don't mind as you can tune that out with ESC and expo settings. I want weight and temps to stay down and the high voltage lower KV is the more efficient system.

These are some of the reasons why I took this setup.. As I said I just hope the car won't be too agressive under the throttle

You could always mess with End Points/Expo/Throttle curves/Pinions. Plus the hotwire link for the RX8. From what I've read 6S/1400kv is very nice for all types of driving. I'll know Monday when I get my Eco in the mail!

How much C will do with 4s and 6s packs between a 1400kv and say a 2050kv between 30-40c or would lower C yet be efficient.....I was always under the assumption the higher the better because the motor is only going to pull what it needs and having the higher c is more of a safety barrier to keep lipo temps down because your not working them has hard has a lower c lipo would be

Default Low KV high voltage

Higher C rated packs will play a larger roll in your low voltage system. Remember V (14.8 or 22.2) = W (1400kv or 1900kv and their respective values) / A (measured in both burst and continuous). If you're building your system and know the values for V and W you can find the pack that best fits your needs.
