Noob needs help with Associated B4.1
Hi,
I'm brand new to the RC world. I recently lived out a childhood dream and bought a Tamiya frog kit. Built it, loved it, but now I'm ready to shelve it and get a bit more serious and maybe start racing at my local track.
I'm looking at getting a Team Associated B4.1 factory team kit. (or maybe a B44)
I'll mainly be using it on dirt tracks, some road and pavement.
What ESP, Servo and motor should I get for it?
Is there anything else that I'll need to get initially??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since your a newb I'll answer, but this thread will be locked by a mod soon since there is a huge thread on the b4.1 here:
http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...eam-forum.html
But it all depends on your budget:
Castle motor/esc sidewinder combo's are great and priced cheaper then alot of the other popular name brands.....
Tekin RS (don't really need the pro) motor/esc are great if you wanna go sensored setup but costs alot more then the castle
For a cheaper budget:
Speed Passion sensored setups are good
Or cheaper setup hobbywing esc and tacon motor
Servo is all up to you, for racing you should go with something that has no less then 100oz torque and at least .10 or lower speed, but no higher then .15
As far anything else you may need, read up on the thread I posted earlier....

me too. gonna build it in july.
good call. you'll enjoy your tamiya cars somtimes and the high performance of racers at other times.
get both. it can be boring going for a full day at a track and racing one class. b4.1 is good. kyosho rb5 is good too. losi 22 seems popular.
b44+b4 allows some parts swapping=useful
17.5 stock is competitive.hobbywing/speed passion is good. tekin is better. viper is new. mamba and castle creations have some issues and only have big motors. novak is rubbish. there are others but research.
you'll break less in stock and have more racers. mod class (17.5 +++) can be agressive but that's good when you're ready.
get a good radio . i got a futaba 3pl for $110 USD. there are better contollers. get 2 or 3 receivers.
2 or 3 lipos+ balanced charger. tools. brushes a table and seat. wear a hat if it's sunny.
see u racin'.
