Default AE vs. Losi shock oil comparison question

Hey guys....when comparing shock oils....with both brands...which is thicker between them when comparing the same weight? I thought that I have read that 32.5 is not 32.5 with both... Thanks for the help and hope the question makes sense.

They're a little different. AE is a touch thinner for a given weight.

That chart seems backwards. I have seen another one that says ae oil is about 2.5 wt heavier than losi and that's also been my personal experience.

It's not backwards. There are other charts on TWF8.ws with acutal tests with a rheometer (tests accurate cts viscosity) that show the losi stuff is a little heavier. It's possible for batching to have some variance.

I agree, 2.5 is pretty accurate.. if I want a 27.5 losi, I run a 30wt ae oil, 37.5 losi for a 40wt ae etc etc..

These charts may no longer be accurate. The new Associated shock oils are manufactured by Lucas Oil and are much more consistent than before. Compare the centistokes (cst) number on the new bottle to Losi's rating and that will likely be the most accurate comparison for now.

Good point, I did not know that AE changed vendors. The info in those charts is from 2005.
