Default Need help with choosing what LIPO's to buy

I have a Slash 4X4 with stock brushless motor and esc.
Ofna Hyper 10TT with Castle Sidewinder esc and Castle Brushless motor.
I got a Losi Ten SCTE coming and i'm putting a Novac Ballistic 4.5 with MMP esc.

I've been running NIMH batteries but I want to change to LIPO's. I think I can run 3S in all my cars, correct me if i'm wrong. I dont know if I should get 20c, 30c, 40c? I dont know what this means. Would a 3s 5000mah 40c be a good choice? Thanks for any help.

I looked on the Novak page and it says you can only run 2s lipo's with the 550 Ballistic. So I know I need 2s if someone could tell me whats the difference between 20c,30c,40c. Is it the higher the better?

the higher the C rating the more punch. However if you step up the mah you can use a lower C rating for the same punch as a lower capacity lipo with a higher C rating.

In my 4x4 slash I run 2s lipos that are 5000mah with 20c and some 3500-3800 packs that have 35c rating and feel about the same.

Be careful with the 3s lipos, as you have found out some of the escs may or may not be able to handle the increase voltage. also some can do 3s but only for certain KV motors.

Default 2S is limit

Most tracks that i have been to or read about allow only a 2s max to race.

I also have the ofna hyper tt and do occasionally throw in a 3s at a buddy's track and it is crazy fast. Be prepaired to break parts with a 3s.

Also, I agree with the comment above that gens ace is an excellent battery and very affordable I also just purchased another charger from HobbyPartz who carries those batteries. I will let you know how that is.
