Default SC8e, SC10 4x4, Hyper 10sc, Losi SCTE 4x4

ok...I'm looking at definitely getting a short course truck, scale size doesn't really matter to me...it could be 1/10th, or 1/8th. I'm just looking at durability for bashing, and occasionally heading out to the track, but probably won't be too serious into racing, so more of a basher for jumps and the like.

I'm really looking at the Associated SC8e closely, it looks beast with its roll cage, 1/8th size and mmp/2200kv motor...but is it really worth the $600 RTR brand new? or should I go for a used sc10 4x4 / hyper 10sc / losi scte 4x4? not looking to get new, because that would be more than the SC8e RTR version after electronics....stupid how that works huh?

just looking for opinions, thanks.

SC8E hands down, nothing else is as cool, as fast, or nearly as tough. PERIOD.

if its so durable, how come no one has them? I never see anyone talking about them on here as far as upgrades, gearing setups, etc....

I also never see any for sale in the FS section hardly, I guess that's a good sign though, maybe...

No class to race them most places, makes them strictly bashing for most. Most people will not buy a 600+ R/C to bash... People have them, just not as abundant as 1/10th scale 4wd SC. SC8 is a solid rig, have yet to hear anyone complain about it, other than not enough people have them.

what? most people won't buy a $600 rc to bash? what is a savage flux, or e-maxx brushless then? those are $600 RTR. Tons of people have them, lol.

the sc8e looks like its built tons better than the e-maxx or savage flux though, thats for sure.

My sc8e has taken harder hits with no damage than a lot of my previous rc incl HPI Savage Flux and HPI Baja.

It's in a different league to the 10th scale 4wd's I still have my SC10 for racing, but thats because they won't let the SC8 in corr class locally

Buy the SC8e rtr upgrade the Servo to a DS1313 and if you want to run higher gears replace the MMP with a MMM (even in stock form the MMP is on it's limit)

Because most bashers are into MT's not sct's...... I agree if the sc8 were more popular for racing and the local track to run it didn't close, I would have never of sold mine. It was the most durable and fun to drive out of all the rc's I've ever owned. Since I'm only into racing now and there's no local tracks in my area to run the sc8 I sold it, but if a track ever opens up big enough to run the sc8 I will def. be buying one again........

will remember that....makes since because the MMP = 1/10th scale, and MMM = 1/8th scale. Pretty dumb move there by associated....

gonna try for a used one first for a deal, but if not I will just buy a brand new one.

I absolutely love my SC8e. I'll actually get to race it this coming weekend at the NW SC Nationals. Other than that I just get to mess around at the track with it on practice days. But even then, it's worth it due to how much fun it is. Power induced controlled drifting around the corners at the track is effortless with the way the truck handles. It's a blast...and bulletproof to boot.

If you're ONLY going to bash it, or if your local track will allow you to race it, get the SC8. If you're going to bash/race it and your local track has actual rules for 4w SCT, get the SC10 4x4 or the Losi SCTE.

Love my SC8e. It's bulletproof. Changed the esc to mamba monster ( mamba max pro doesn't really have enough power to allow the 2200 kv motor it's full potential.) Put in a good steering servo, and you've got the best off road vehicle around. You don't hear about upgrades on it, cause besides tires, and maybe putting the team shocks on it ( I had to cause the stock plastic caps kept blowing out), there isn't much you need to change. My local track usually has about 10 sc8e's show up for racing days. Sometimes we have so many that we need to separate them into 2 heats.

sC8e doesn't have a class but is a cool vehicle and based off 1/8th stuff so very durable, $600 is more than reasonable considering the esc/motor combo is like $300 alone, then the cost of the kit,+ servo,+radio(if you can find a steal on one go for it but $600 isn't all that bad considering)

I bought a sc8e kit for $250 shipped, won it on eBay. The truck is amazing! So tuff, I mean it takes extreme abuse! I have mine setup for indoor clay with rx8 /1900kv 5s setup on panther switch 2.0's and it's very fast, I have mine dialed to where it doesn't drift unless I really need to. Probably good for 50mph as is.

Last weekend my buddy put his new sc10 4x4 on the track and crashed it very hard pack after pack and nothing broke. I was very impressed, there is a tripple double there that's is changing peoples lives lol! You get a 10ft run to jump over 30ft to clear all 5 lol!
