I assume your running a sc10? Is it a 2wd, or 4x4?

If it's a 4x4 I would say your options are almost unlimited between 10th scale buggy motor's to sc motors.

If it's 2wd, I would get a delicate motor that is sensored, no questions asked. I have had a sc10 2wd with the castle sidewinder v2 esc, and the castle 4600 and it took quite a bit of throttle control through the corners. The motor was so powerful, it would throw the truck into a 180 coming out of a corner with to much acceleration. I then drove a sensored tekin setup on a sc10 and it was night and day. The sensored motor was so smooth and controllable is was crazy. However, the price was right for my castle combo ($95) so it was hard to pass up, and I considered myself to be pretty quick with my setup. However, it took much more work on my part to keep it in control vs a different setup. I would look into a tekin rs 13.5 or 10.5 setup IMO. Also, a MMP esc can run a sensored motor, which a MMP can be had for less than a RS.

Good luck!

So The tekin combos looked a bit expensive. But I do like the idea of going sensored. Are there any decent sensored motors I could pair with the mamba max pro?

Yea I drive an SC10 2WD

I'd look at the Havoc Pro SC / Ballistic combos. 17.5, 13.5 or 10.5 depending on what classes your track runs. They go for about $195. I run a 17.5 in my 2WD SC10 and 13.5 in my B4.1. I'm planning on getting the 4.5 550 combo when I get a 4x4 short course truck.

That dude posted like thirty links to threads with people having issues with the Novak. Which freaks me out for sure.

And I couldn't find a 10.5 havoc combo... Just all the others

You can find hundreds of links here about problems with everything. Don't let that stuff get to you. Seems like he has some hatred for them(and only 2 posts, suspicious). Pick any brand or product, you'll find you 20 bad posts about it. Just look at all the bad posts about Castle products lately and they are great and powerful. Noone will admit user error or abuse on these forums so I don't pay attention. I suggest get out to the tracks and see what working for the drivers and get away from the typers.

I'd say to get the MMP Sct system.

My $.02 http://cgi.ebay.com/Hobbywing-Brushl...#ht_690wt_1139

Bullet-proof system, and cheap. I have a SC8 ESC and it's awesome.

Just ditch the 3.5mm bullet plugs for 4mm and put whatever you use on the battery lead for the ESC.

Id stick to sensored as well. A Mamba Max Pro and Team Epic Duo 3 17.5t/13.5t is a GREAT combo! Or a used Tekin RS would be even better imo if you dont mind buying used.

I run the MMP with the 17.5T Epic Duo 3. Very smooth, nice power.

That motor gets great reviews from the guys down at the track, I haven't been around long enough or tried enough combos to say definitively, but I really like it. For racing, the Tekin RS might have some better timing/boost options.

I believe the MMP can handle more juice, and while having extensive programming through the USB, not as much as the Tekin RS.

Depends on what your track runs for "stock" class. We can't use any ESC timing.

+1 on this combo. I can't believe how much cooler the D3 motor runs compared to the Novak Ballistic I ran last year. No complaints here...

So at this point I'm really thinking of running a mamba max pro and an epic D3. Looking at either the 11.5 or 13.5 turn. Looks like it'd be just about at my budget and I've read a few places now people loving their d3's

Those are a much better choice than the SC combo's. Those SC combo's from Castle are for 4x4 short course. The MMP combo comes with a motor that wouldn't even begin to work in your truck. The other one with the 3800 motor doesn't have a very good ESC and the motor, while my absolute favorite for 4x4 SCT would be really hard to control in a 2wd truck.
