Default Mamba Max Pro or Tekin R5

Well I was going to buy a AE B4.1 with my extra money, but now I'm thinking I'm just going to upgrade my ESC and hold on to the rest for future upgrades or another project down the road.

I think I've narrowed my choices down to the Castle MMP and Tekin R5, but I'm pretty new to the hobby so I figured I'd see what you guys thought before I made my decision. I like the R5 Pro, but it's a little more than I'm looking to spend right now. I also already have the CastleLink, but I suppose I could sell that with my Sidewinder ESC when I make my choice.

Whichever one I choose will be driving a Neu 1410 in my Losi XXX-SCT.

Thanks in advance.

I have the MMP right now and i would have to say i would go with it. Reason i would say why is the fact that MMP is more versitale that i can see. It can handle up to a 6s battery to where the RS can only take a 3s. Down the road if you choose to, the MMP can be used in 1/8 scale as seen in the SC8E. An the MMP comes with a built on cooling fan.

I have the MMP, and it has some very real limits. 6s is not support in a lot of set ups. I have the MMP and the castle 1512 2650kv motor and Castle only warranties this set up to 3s. Also I had to buy a Castle BEC for 20.00 which almost every single person I know who is running almost any newer Digital coreless servo that takes above 3v has buy also as the MMP will make the whole system shutter every time you hit the throttle. It's an easy fix but should be considered when buying to be part of the total cost of owning a MMP. I have heard MANY great things about both, if I had to do it over I might go with the TEKIN, but I also have never owned one but all the peeps on here sure can't say enough great things about Tekin.

hi there

i owned the mmp.
its a good esc in a truck, or 1:8.
but in the b4 buggy you will not have enough room under the body to fit this big esc

you will better go with a tekin rs or a lrp sxx esc which give you a better sensored car feeling, then the mamba max pro do.

my mmp is to big for my b4 buggy and the next thing is that the lrp , tekin rs, nosram escīs have more driving feeling

+1

MMP is good for 4x4 1/10, but for 4x2 I'd take something more specific

I do plan on eventually going to AE/Losi/Ofna 4x4 so I'm thinking the MMP might be a better choice for the future?

My fault also I meant the RS not R5.

Will a RX8 fit in a XXX-SCT? I could get one of those on my budget and I know that will cover me for the future too.

I own both the MMP and an RX8 and have had good experiences with both. The MMP does have weaker bec comparied to the RX8 and might need a glitch buster cap to run certain servos were the RX8 does not. In 1/8 scale most are using the 10amp external becs with the MMP. I would recommend looking heavily at the rx8 especially for 4x4 sc.
