Default turbo 35 or Futaba

Can anyone who has used the turbo 35 or Futaba CDR 5000 tell me which one is better(in thereopinion) im looking at purchasing one of them I have read the spec sheets already but sometimes hands on use can show the good and the bad points. Thanks for the info.

That's kind of a tough question to answer. The futaba has only been out for a short time, while the turbo 30/35 has gone through a number of versions. In addition, many who own the turbo35 won't bother to buy the futaba as well. That being said, I would choose the turbo35. Jim at Competition Electronics stands behind his products and they've been around for a long time. I even have one of the original turbochargers from the late 80's, and it still works.

The CE chargers are hard to beat...

There are other good ones out there....

I have only seen a few of the Futaba chargers.

Default cdr 5000

the cdr 5000 has actualy been around in japan for around 18 months- 2years. the first one released was version 1.2 that i know of, i now own version 2.2 the latest version on the market.

as for the turbo35 v cdr-5000, as a charger i firmly beleive the FUTABA trumps the turbo35 for charging & maintaining your cell's
but if it's motor run you want, get the turbo 35.

Here's the problem trying to compare the two chargers. You're saying that the futaba is better for charging and maintaining your batteries. First of all, you need to own both chargers to have such an opinion, which many don't. Second, what do you describe as being a superior charge and maintenance? You would need to conduct tests over thousands of cycles to come up with this conclusion. Also, it's an accepted fact that higher charge rates yield better performance for stock racing, yet reduce the life of the battery. Likewise, charging batteries a little on the hot side can yield more performance at the expense of battery life as well. All I can say is that it would be very difficult to beat the service that Competition Electronics provides, if you live in the US.

Thanks again I didnt know the futaba had been released for that long. One thing that attracted me to the futaba is the temp/batt tray. But the CE has always been known as the top of the line charger. Man this is a tough one

Default cdr 5000

A freind on the racing seen has recently sold his turbo 35 & purchased the cdr-5000. with this said the turbo 35 is the closest charger out there to that of the cdr-5000.
the fact that the futaba reads the voltage of each cell, plus the power level, match level, enviroment plus it dosent just give you data, it also show's graphs wich may or may not be important to you.
so now you have read the thought's on both chargers, (both top line chargers) it's time for you sit down & read what each charger's capabilities are.wright down the things that important to YOU & go that way.

I have both chargers. I like the bells and whistles of the futaba but after the novelty worn off I find I hardly use it. I still gravite towards my CE. The end results are the same. A good charged battery. The CE seems more robust. I'm not afraid It's going to break it if drops. The futaba if you drop it it's probably RIP, and it doesn't have a motor run feature which I find I can't go without at the track.

If I could only own 1 charger.

My vote goes to the CE still the best around charger.
