Associated RC10GT shocks
well, im replacing my rear shocks, and while im at it, im going to do somthing with my front shocks. what, i dont know yet.
i see my options as this, i can get a rebuild kit for my front shocks, and add the aluminum caps and unobtainium shafts, but then id have to buy the whole shock kit for the rear, then the caps and shafts on top of that.
does associated sell just a factory team shock kit so i dont have to waste the stock parts? it would get expensive to get the whole kit, THEN shafts and caps. not to mention the new springs.
also does losi sell their threaded shocks as a kit? i figure i could make the .9 and 1.2" shock kits work on an rc10gt, that would be hot. but if associated makes a FT kit id go that route.
anyone know? thanks

well, the front are original, and the truck started out with a tub chassis, you do the math. theyre OLD and have taken alot of abuse. the rears were replaced some time before i got the truck, and the replacement shocks arent very smooth at all, and theyre odd ball. i dont even know who makes them, let alone where i can get rebuild kits for em, so the rears are getting new stock associated shocks.
the fronts are getting rebuilt and unobtainium shafts, and if i dont get the caps, the rears are just getting unobtainium shafts. but thats still an extra 10 bucks for the rears.
why dont i want the alum caps? ive heard nothing but good about them, and bad about the nylons.

oh, ive heard of people having problems with the nylon caps stripping out. on the other hand, i havnt. so i guess the caps arent necessary.
so can i get the FT shocks or the shock kit with the unobtainium shafts or do i have to buy the shaft separately?

Aluminum caps are very good, plastic ones pop off if you hit to hard and like you saud strip out.
I like the mip gold shaft, for like 3bucks each, and new insides and you will have very smooth shocks. I have tried all the different o rings mip acer, I like associated the best, some people like acer better, mip no one likes
I also like losi shock oil because its tested for consitency.
I change my oil at least every race weekend, it gets dirty fast.
THanks

Yes, thats bad if you are running your truck, replacing the shock oil every year is not the best idea. Can you say SLUDGE.
I have never in over 4 years had a shock cap come off. Every once in a while you will have to replace them as plastic will wear, it is just like anything else. If you want the aluminum, get them. I just think it is a waste of money.
On the subject of seals and shafts. I have never used the MIP shafts, so I cannot comment on them. Therefore I can say the AE unobtanium shafts work quite well and will last a long time. The stock AE seals are also a good seal. The GS seals work well also. I agree that for whatever reason, I haven't liked the MIP seals. Use a little green slime on the seals, and you are good to go.

now the REAL question......
would the factory team T4 threaded shock bodies (1.02) fit the GT? its safe to guess that it wont be a DIRECT fit, does anyone know how much modification would be required?

for those interested,
i just talked to team associated. they dont make the FT shocks as a kit, but they do make the team truck shocks as a kit. according to them, the only difference is the shafts. its only an extra 10 bucks for the unobtainium shafts on the front (so an extra 20 for all 4).
oh and the T4 threaded shock bodies are in fact a direct fit for the GT, good call scott.
