Default Rustler Brushless Suggestions

My grandson just informed me that he fried his brushed motor today. If I am not mistaken, he seemed to have a bit of a smile when he told me. Guess I should not have mentioned we would probably install a brushless when the brushed motor goes south. Anyway, what would be an inexpensive brushless and esc to install? I am assuming that the esc for his brushed set up will not work with a brushless motor. Thanks for the info.

Traxxas velineon motor, pretty great. The esc, pure crap. Get a tacon motor and a 60a hobbywing esc for about $65 brand new for both from hobbypartz.com.

Yep, I noticed that. Any other suggestions guys? My grandson just dropped off his car so grandpa can fix it. My brushless sc10 rtr arrives on Tuesday so I need to get his Rustler fixed asap.

http://www.hobbypartz.com/ez-60a-rc-...ar-system.html, thats the only thing im seeing that is in stock for the hobbywing. you could get the 35a esc and a 380 size tacon but be nearly as much power and speed. the system i just linked is a 6000kv which is kind of high but the 4000kv system is also out of stock. so does anybody else think that the 6000kv would be okay in a rustler because everything else is out of stock. you could also get a sidewinder but it is a little more money. http://cgi.ebay.com/Castle-Creations...#ht_2211wt_866
if i were you i would just spend the extra $20 on the sidewinder.

Before using that much motor you want to make sure that the tranny has all metal gears. I use the sidewinder's but you just need to make sure the truck is set up for it,a wheelie bar kit would come in handy as well.I really like the EZ Run 4000 that I have in my Rusty but I know they don't stay in stock long.

Got it. Even the stock brushed motor made it pretty loose in soft dirt. I do not want to put too much money in this Rustler but would like to power it to get more acceleration/torque to clear jumps. It would be great to hear from any Rustler owners who have successfully repowered to brushless and can give me setup info such as gear ratios, tires, etc. Thanks all for the help.

Best bang for you buck would be the Castle Creation SCT 1410 1Y 3800KV 4-POLE system, if ya shop around you can pick them for around $100, it would be great in a Rustler heaps of power and it wouldnt get hot...

Supposedly, these are just rebranded ezrun/hobbywing escs, and even cheaper. This and the tacon would certainly be adequate a lil feller's rustler rig, and grandpa is only out $50.

Can anyone else confirm this? I have EZRun 60A and love it. I need a couple more and if these are the same I'll pick some up.

BTW lowroad, got the shocks in. I'm liking the way it runs so far. Thanks again.

+1 on the castle sct system. unbelievably good value for what you're getting. in a rustler, you wouldn't even need to worry about temps which is great for a kid that just likes to go bashing. you can find the combo on ebay from good dealers for about 95 shipped i believe.
