Mamba Sidewinder SCT 3800
Has anyone tried or know if you could run a SIdewinder SCT 3800 in an 1/8th Buggy?

Tech Regular
You could try it,but it is not made for 1/8. The 1415 2400 would work better with the mamba max pro.

The SCT 2400 would make an interesting showing in a 1/8 buggy, you could easily run it but 3s lipo is really best, 4s would be a little out of control and hard to gear for.
I suggest a small buggy motor around 1800-2000kv on 4s lipo.

Both of Castle's SC systems are intended for 10th scale. Use them in what ever fashion you wish, they're yours. Just know that their intended use is for 10th scale applications.

Ive been running the 3800 motor in a converted losi 810e. The buggy weighs almost exactly 6lbs rtr with a 3s 4200 battery which is enough for about a 12 minute main and the hottest ive been able to get the motor is in the low 140's. The motor handles this setup with no issues at all and the car has all the power you could ever want. I run zero timing and still wind up tuening the epa on the throttle down a bit sometimes. Keep in mind this is a 6lb car, not your typical 7.5-8lb buggy.
I also ran the 2400 motor in a Mugen Eco on 3s just to test it out. It actually ran very nice. Temps were good and there was no problem with having enough power. Not your typical 4-6s brute power wise, but plenty of power to clear anything on the track.
When/if castle ever releases the optional 5mm shaft rotors for these motors these will be a really nice options for a lightweight buggy setup. The 1/8 shaft is the only thing that bothers me right now. Not that Ive had any issues with them yet, but I would be alot more comfortable with the 5mm shaft.
EDIT: The sidewinder esc that comes with the 3800 motor can no way handle 1/8 applications. I was talking about the motors only.
