Default expo or punch control?..which is best

i have a mamba monster in my 8th scale buggy. also run a dx3. never played around with punch control or expo. the castle link thing is kind of a pain. will expo do the same thing...or is it best to use the esc's punch control.

thanks guys.

It is my understanding that using EXP on the radio is better on the ESC. By using the radio EXP setting to smooth out the throttle curve, you create less heat in the ESC as compared to using the ESC to limit the throttle curve.

Expo and punch control are two different things.

Expo is used for feel, punch control is current limiting.

They can both affect feel so I know it can seem confusing.

With exp, when you quickly pull the trigger to full you really aren't going to get much of an effect of exp. this is where punch control would come in to keep from spinning out.

Reverse the EXP ratio and play with punch control and you will see what I'm talking about.

Exp on your radio would be similar to throttle or brake curve in castle link.

I've driven cars with castle esc's and don't like punch control. If a heavy go finger is your issue use expo. To me punch control can help with this to a point but to me it makes a car feel too lazy and the "feel" just isn't right. It also limits your ability to have the full power on tap when you need it "right now" such as jumps with a short run in. $.02 paid

I ran 30-40% of punchcontrol with my MMM and 25% expo.
