Default sidewinder sct help

he fellas i have the sidewinder sct comboin my slash 4x4
i ran it around a bit and it is very fast but iam noticing that the esc seems to get a lil hot for my liking, i do not have a temp gun sorry

i can tell u that the motor stays cold/lukewarm
the gearing is stock traxxas 13/54 i believe
i weighed the truck and it came in at about 5.75# fully loaded witrh battery and all

i cant afford to be replacing esc's so im trying to figure out why the esc is getting so hot and the motor isnt

any input is greatly appreciated
thank you

try this pinion 18 and spur 87. I run this in my t4 and it is fine. If you dont have a 87 spur try to raise the pinion size it should cool it down.

Most, if not, all of the guys at my local track (that are using this combo) attach the motor fan to the ESC. By running the fan on the ESC you will see dramitic reduction in temps. I was running the castle fan on my esc, but that fan isn't very durable. I created a lexan shroud and used an aftermarket fan and went from 160 degrees (without a fan) to 110 degrees with a fan.

Sidewinder SCT Speedies always run hot, Great motor, bad ESC, if you can fund it, change in a Mamba Max Pro and be done with it.
