i dont understand what you had to make round that was flat. the novak heat sink i ordered is already flat. looks like it just snaps around the motor.

thanks.

he used the heat sink from the 8th scale conversion kits. The flat bottom part is what mounted to the chassis, and is the part he filed round. This one requires you to remove the end bell, and remove the center can as the heat sink replaces it.

You got this, which slides over the motor.

Exactly!

The reason I used the motor mount heatsink is that it clamps directly to the stator and improves heat transfer to the heatsink. Plus it is its very own own fan mount. The reason I needed to round the bottom was because I was using it in a Slash 4X4 and it wouldn't have fit in the car without that material removed.

i tried to install mine and not real happy. looks like i am gonna have to put the dremmel to work. it is hitting my center diff drive cup and it is also hitting the chassis up under. looks like i will have to shorten the length and cut some of the circumfrence out of hit so it doesnt hit the chassis.

That's why I used the motor-mount heatsink. Plus it has a built-in fan mount.
