Vintage RC...
I thought i would start a vintage rc thread.
If there is another one around here somewhere I apologize and ask for the link.
The first car up is a Dandy Dash from Nikko rc, as far as i could tell from research it sold around the late 80's...My friend gave me the car in many pieces and told me to get it running[i'm the person people bring stuff to fix]After piecing it together, addidng a new esc and motor, glueing together some of the broken pieces, painting the body, and strip cleaning it heres what I got.
It was pretty awsome to run and was extremely fast...

That was one cool car. I always wanted a Turbo Optima. I remember the first time I saw one run at the track. I couldn't believe how fast it was.
As much as I love vintage cars, my favorite thing about the time period was the vintage tracks. They were soft and loamy. You kicked up rooster tails behind you. There were none of these car killing double and triples to clear and the tracks weren't harder than concrete blue groove. Sadly true off road rc is extinct. We only have off road today in name only.

The javelin really is just the optima with a rollcage instead of the body, they aren't any different internally. I have a turbo optima that I'm working on next
And yeah I remember the days when the dirt was loose and the jumps were there but they didn't kill your cars if you missed one. One hit on the local off-road track here today and I'm sure the old Javelin would need some parts for sure. Its lasted 20 some odd years and I'm not about to start abusing it again. You know the funny thing is I'd forgotten how quick it was with just the stock motor.

Feelin old??
No pictures anymore but had a Traxxas Radicator when I was youngish. I just sold on here a Royal Products Ripper. The Ripper still had the old reostat speed controller and was a 4 wheel steer 4wd shaft drive buggy. Almost looked like a Tamiya HotShot. Would like to have them all back...lol

My javelin is using a Futaba Magnum Jr and an old Tekin ESC. (model name escapes me at the moment) The motor is an original Kyosho 360 stocker that came with it as well. All of these parts are original to the car. I like keeping them as "time period" as I can, but if there is no option then I'll put in a newer FM receiver if I'm going to run them.
Not sure I'll do that for the T Optima that I'm working on now. I actually might build it intending to race it again. Wonder how the chain drive would hold up to Lipo and brushless? Or if the car would be competitive against a newer buggy?
