I would say a 70/30 blend. And then let blue-groove nicely.

I like a nice damp loam type surface.

It makes for a track that is less setup dependent. If you do not have the perfect setup you can still be very competitive. It seems like with a hard packed surface having your setup slightly off can be a much bigger handicap.

I like damp loam as well. I'm not a fan of hardpack, though I don't mind racing on it if that's all that is available. I just think loam adds more fun into the mix.

im actually not a fan of hardpack "blue groove" tracks. I just like racing on loose tracks that make ya think about how fast you're going into a corner and will put ya in the sticks if ya go in too fast. I mean every track has its place but i see way too many tracks that have as much traction as a nice pavement track.

spray a chunck of land down with the "no grow" chemicals, build a nice track, and leave it at that. sure it may get a lil dusty, and you may not be able to do 75 into a corner and mash the brakes. But you will get to swing the tail end of your cars around and learn to drive where there are consequences if you drive like a lead footed moron!

I like loam the best, easy to work. Absorbs water quickly yet drys up quickly. My local track is ready to go 12 hours after rain, it could be just a drizzle or 4 inches. I like not having to use a jackhammer when you make changes to the track......BB

I made a simple little track of my own, except the surface is just basic dirt. I just mowed/wacked/raked away the topsoil & exposed smooth earth. the topsoil i used to make the track outline, and after a year all the weeds & grass settled in it, making a nice visible outline.

There is no one feature that is a favorite. It is the combination of features and corners that make the track. A cool feature(triple) on one track could just be okay on placed on a different track. What really makes a track cool are options. Things get boring fast when there is only one way to do them.
