Default Stadium Truck, or 1/8 4WD?

I'm trying to get back into racing again (from a few year vacation from the sport), and was planning on getting a XXX NT Nitro Drake edition.....and have been thinking of 1/8 scale....how much more of a $$$ commitment is it to start? I figure only the engine cost is a bit higher, and the initial cost of the kit......

I was going to get my to boys into the sport as well with a couple RTR Losi truck kits for Xmas......

Thanks for all the replies in other posts.....I would really like to get a 1/8 scale, but I think I am better off financially getting a 1/10 nitro stadium truck.....reason being that I plan on getting my 2 boys (11 & 13) RTR Losi kits, and spare parts\tires\tools will be easier if all the kits are basically the same manufacturer...I think I will get:

(for me)
TEAM LOSI XXX-NT ADAM DRAKE GRAPHITE EDITION
AIRTRONICS MX-3 SYNTHESIZER FM/ 3CH./ 75M
OS engine ?? (not sure what to get)

(For them)
And (2) XXX-NT SPORT RTR with .15 Mach engine + XR2 AM radio system

Stormer has them for 239$ each...seems like a good price..
