E Buggy Run times
I have a Mugen MBX5 converted to electric with the Tekin RX8/T8 combo (not sure of the kv as I got this second hand). I run 4S batteries and get close to 15 minutes run time, but will be doing 20 minute mains this summer. I'm looking at a 5S battery http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=9517 any input on whether this battery is likely to get me through 20 minutes?

hey bud
there are too many variables for me to answer your question without more information. after a 15 min run, how much were you putting back into the pack? what is the C rating of your current pack? new pack? the kv of your motor is important in this equation too since you will need to keep an eye on your temps (battery, esc, motor). do you know what they were after a 15 min race?
let me know more and id be happy to help if i can. ive been using lipos in cars and helis for 12 years!

Yes, that battery will get you 20 minutes easily provided your KV is is 1850kv or less. You really need to know what KV motor you are using as that has a HUGE impact on efficiency.
If you are using 4s batteries and barely getting 15 minutes of run time, I would be you have the 2650kv motor which would not work well on 5s.
5s is best when used with a 1400-1700kv motor. The other option is to get a 4s 6000mah pack which should be good for 20 minutes.

Thanks for the insight.
I found the kv rating on the motor can and its 2050. To get the other info on how the 4S 5000mah battery operates (Venom with 35C rating) will need to wait until my outdoor track opens again in late spring (It'll be winter for a while here in Wisconsin).
