Racing or bashing? Both are racers and probably wouldn't be the best for bashing.

Yes, you could. Both are good buggies for OCRC. The Ve8 is more durable (with the updated chassis) but a bit more heavy. While not as nimble it will definitely be more planted on the track.
To really get the most from the Ve8, I would upgrade to the HHH chassis. It's lighter, more durable, and you can configure it to dual packs or a single one.

U can but the wiring will be a problem, n u can only stack hard case. They will be a chance the batt will slide off ESP it's off road.

If u hv 2s batt nexx8 will be a more balanced car.

Buying a bnew car n changing the chassis for at least usd$100 is uncalled for. I rather he buy a better car.

He's new he shld learn how to drive it rather than starting to hop up even before he drive it. It's a endless pit.

Good point. I forgot he's a newbie. That being said, how balanced a buggy is wont mean a lot to someone until they learn how to drive anyway.

All you need is Alum. skid plates and the Ve8 chassis is set to go. Simple as that.

Well....What if I was able to get a real clean, barely used roller with the metal skid plates already installed and a bunch of spare unused parts for under $200.

You just missed it. I sold my second Ve8, with plates and hop ups, just last week for $220. If you do go that route, along with the skid plates, you should also get the HB one piece motor mount and an aluminum servo arm. You'll be set.

Becareful as used ve8 may hv stress cracks at the chassis as it's plastic. Nexx8 is alu although not as tough as the hop up chassis but it will last if u don't bash too hard or jump too high.

Nexx8 u can get it cheap too if u look around.
