I'm looking to replace my Speed Passion V3.0 17.5 in my 2wd buggy. How much motor timing do these suggested motors have? I run no boost and I think I'm getting out motored by some of these new 17.5's. The Speed Passion only has 10* motor timing and I've seen others offer up to 50*(Thunder Power).

I've got a trinity epic duo 2 17.5 with maxed out can timing and 27/75 it's pretty good...not quite as fast as a boosted motor but runs strong came off @157 after a 20+minute session on a high grip track.

Default Epic D3

Many brands mentioned in this thread are quality and will work well. I personally race only Epic motors and the D3s are very strong in boosted and non-boosted setups. You cannot go wrong with one.

The link is just for information, not a suggestion to buy directly from Novak. You do realize that isn't a normal Ballistic, right? I paid less than $109 listed.

As for speed controls, I run LRP for everything else, but I grabbed a MMP on the cheap and it's been super solid, smooth and I like the versatility and adjustability. I didn't feel the need to spend the inflated price for the LRP since we don't normally run 17.5 class.
No, that's a normal Ballistic.. (I have 3 of them) I think you're thinking of the Havoc (soup can with the integrated sensor wire)

To be honest i wasn't trying to say your opinion was crap.. Just the speedo.. I have seen more Castle products burn up (literally) than any other manufacturer.. The MMP ESC seems to be the most frequent
The LRP suggestion was what the BEST option would be if the OP wanted to go that route, set it and forget it.. Yes, there's a 100$ difference but you get what you pay for.. It's like buying an RTR vs a race kit.. You know eventually you're going to upgrade everything to the best anyway.. why bother with the RTR? catch my drift?

I'd strongly consider a 17.5T Murfdogg Synergy Motor. Check out the Murfdogg rctech thread for true user feedback and I think you'd be very pleased. As mentioned previously, you can get a great deal on any of the mentioned motors through Premiere Hobbies (unbeatable prices). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
