Default E-FIRESTORM brushless motor???

Will the Velineon VXL-3s ESC and Velineon 3500 Brushless Motor be good for the HPI E-Firestorm 10T truck? I was going to order the flux system from tower but they are out of stock. The saw the Velineon.

yea it'll work great, but there are better options for the money. the vxl motor is pretty good, but the esc isnt as adjustable as the sidewinder.

this is exactly the same as the flux system with a stronger esc, cheaper, and in stock ...... win win win.

Do I really need the programmer? I'm not going to race the car only for bashing.

well a temp guage is a good idea, if you get your motor too hot it will ruin it and you will be buying a new one. mine doesn't get hot in my losi truck, but i always check it to see. Being geared to high will cause them to thermal and always check the motor and speed control both can get too hot. A programmer i don't see being nessisary unless you think you really need more power, but from what it sounds like the castle on a 2s lipo will have plenty of power, i have not touched the timing on mine just found the right gearing and its one of the faster short course trucks on the track. another good motor is the new S2 setup with a 4600 i ran that in my blitz for a very long time, fast, reliable and very easy to use

i guess it's not totally necessary but you're missing out on a lot of cool stuff without it. not sure how much experience you have in rc, but the temp gun imo is necessary. you'll will more than likely need to change your gearing to keep the 5700kv cool and the temp gun lets you know whether you need to go up or down with the gearing.

i'm running really tall gearing on that 4 pole short course motor and it never gets over 100 degrees, i had a 4600 2 pole and the torque difference is unbelievable with the sct motor

I wouldnt get the Flux/Castle creations 5700kv system, i used to run that system in my Blitz and its not that good had alot of temp problems with it (had to gear it at 14/88), i ended up changing the motor over to Traxxas Velineon and its heaps better just as much power and it has alot more torque and no heat issues you have alot more gearing options as well, great super reliable motor for bashing...

What i hear and as said above the new Castle Creations 3800kv SCT system has very good power, and its avaliable at a great price, it would be a good option i reckon....

Also you dont need a programmer, i have a sidewinder ESC and your can program them manually its pretty easy to do...

I agree with the VXL system for bashing. It's simple, and works. Great motor and if you want more you can go up to 3S.

Hey guys I really appreciate you answering my questions and my cousin ordered the velineon and then cancelled his order. He is going to buy an SC10 that is already brushless with the 2.4ghz radio.
