This is starting to bug me...
On my XXXT, every so often the Bottom Shock Mount pops off the Shaft... Everytime it does this, there's no way to screw it back in because the threads aren't there anymore(stripped)... anyone know what's going on? This same thing has taken me out of a race and ended my day at the track...

I am assuming you are putting on new bottom shock ends everytime right?

Check and make sure that the shock shaft itself doesn't have any damage to its threads.

One thing you can try, take some cotton from a cotton ball, put it around the threaded end of the shaft and screw it in. It will take up slack in the cup and give a tight fit. I did this in a pinch when I did the same as you with my SB and it held up quite well. May work even better with a new ball end.

Losi had a run of shock shafts that the threads weren't quite up to snuff. Try replacing the shaft and see if that fixes the problem.

Aaron- Thanks, I'll look into it, because my friend hasn't had any problems with his popping off... the part where you thread it on seems much smaller than it's supposed to be, because on my older Losi shocks with regular shafts, the threaded part is roughly the same size as the rest of the shaft, whereas on this shaft, the threaded area is much smaller in diameter...

im confused...

is the shaft pulling out of the shock end or is the screw that holds the pivot on stripping out? if its the latter, i just put a washer between the screw head and the pivot, use a longer 440 screw, and throw a lock nut on the back.

but if its the shaft, the listen to everyone else

I believe its the shaft. If Aaron says there was a bad batch of shafts, you should give losi a call and see if they will send you out a free one to replace the bad one.

In the mean time the cotton trick should help. If I was there doing it I probably would pack alittle extra in there than I do on my other shocks.

I put a small drop of CA in the shock end before i screw the shock shaft on, no matter what. I hated when that used to happen and it has not occured since i started the CA thing. (Losi vehicles)

"If" you have the out-of-spec Losi shafts i'm not sure the CA will work but it can't hurt.

my shocks used to do that when they had too thin of a shock oil in them. what wt are u running?

I agree, a little bit of CA seems to help that problem. I had that problem onmy XX-4 and XX-CR.

I'm running the stock weight, which I think is 20 or 25 wt? I really feel stupid not knowing what I'm running in the front but I haven't driven the truck in awhile, so I sort of forgot...

Stock for the MFE is 20 wt.

Shock oil will have absolutely zero effect on the problem you're having.

I really don't know. I won't be able to make it to the LHS for a few weeks, So I just did jg's trick and used CA and dripped a little into the end and screwed it back on... works fine now?

I add CA to all my shock now. I mostly have this problem with Gas truck although it is a good ideal for all your losi cars. Another good thing to do with shocks is to glue the shock cartridge cap on. I have those pop off every once in a while which really stinks with the mess that it makes!
