Traxxas Bandit Tires and Wheels - Help?

Okay - I'm a complete newb to the Wheels and Tires Scene. I've been playing with RTR stuff. I just got a Traxxas Bandit Roller that I put a Castle SCT Brushless in. The wheels that are on it - are meant more for dirt I think. I'm looking for something to run on Asphalt - I'm wanting a new set of rims and rubber so I can swap the ones I have back on for Carpet Track racing or dirt racing.

I know NOTHING about tires and wheels. Can someone help educate me? I see all these for sale thread with wheels and tires for sale but don't know what they mean - don't know what will fit my Bandit etc. Is there some key words I should be looking out for? Hex fit, certain size like 2.2 or something? Sorry to be completely dumb here - looking for help.

Thanks!

The Bandit should use a 12mm hex. I know the Rustler and Stampede do.

I got just the thing you're looking for. These are the actual Traxxas tires made for asphalt. Proline also makes some too. I believe you could get away using any 12mm hex wheel (2.2) but i'm not sure on that one as I don't own a bandit.

Thanks for the info. I've see the Anacondas online but every time I see the rims they don't show the back side that mounts to the car. On the Slash I have there is a hex nut that "snaps" onto a pin through the axle but the Bandit wheels are different - they have a pin slot on the wheel itself, not a hex hole on the wheel.

Bandit does NOT use 12mm hex...

It has the pins. I have a 2 year old model and a 2 month old model... Same pins. I bought the anaconda tires mounted on Traxxas wheels for $20ish a pair online. They are fine. Houngan run 4 rear tires/wheels if you want it to turn on asphalt better, but it is not a great look.

If you want to convert to hex you can get the Traxxas wheel hexes (or lots of other brands) for a couple of dollars, then you can run any 12mm hex wheel. If you are sticking to traditional buggy wheels though, the Traxxas pin style wheels are cheap enough and easy to find.

Good luck, durable buggy. Softer rear suspension helps it turn better.

Good information! Thank you very much. I'm currently running 26/86 on the gearing and can pull a wheelie but it's not crazy. I'm getting 31mph according to the GPS with my 2S Lipo...just need to get some tires on it that are meant more for bashing instead of the dirt/carpet tires I have on there now.

I'm off to hunt for Anacondas.
