Default MMP or RS PRO for the new SC10 4x4?

Pre-ordered the SC10 4x4 and getting ready to fit it the electronics. Never owned a 4x4 so I want to make sure I'm getting the right thing for it. I use the RS speedos in my SC10's now but I have no experience with CC's systems. Also, what turn motor would I typically want to start out with? My track is clay, tight, and technical. Thanks in advance!!!

Based on the weight of the truck, you will probably want to go with a 550 can motor. I ran a 4.5 550 in my OFNA Hyper 10SC (similar weight) with out issue. I think the AE is still on the heavy side for a 540. I will be transvfering my Havoc/HV 4.5 system to the new AE 4x4 once it is out.

I run the mmp w/ a 17.5 or 13.5 novak ballistic with a lot of success.. granted sc10 2wd. I have two tekin rs pro's, but I like the mmp more. Just as fast in stock settings, I feel the top end is better w/ the c'heat' mode on the mmp and the mmp is WAY easier to tune with the pit card. Both are great esc's I stick w/ the tekins in my carpet cars but I like the mmp's better in all my 1/10 offroad stuff. Just swap to the 550 motor size.

But will the RS Pro run a 550 motor?

If you use the 550 motors, use a MMP or Tekin RX8. With the 540's you can use the RS Pro without worry but Tekin says to using the RS or RS Pro with 550's.

Either a 4.5 or 5.5 550 motor depending on where you run.

Yes the RS Pro will run a 550 motor by adding 2 power caps. It works I have tried it, worked great for a few weeks than started running into heat issues.

My motto for R/C these days has been "If I have to worry about it, I don't want it." I run the Tekin RX8 and the Viper VTrax10R with the 550's, they have been worry free.

Do you have any experience with the MMP? I hear good things about the RX8.

Go with the RX8, I think you can tune the motors better with options like push control and the current limiter to really tame these motors to put the power where you need it. They seem to take the abuse better than the 1/10 scale systems also with some of the extreme jumping that guys are putting these through.

+1 on something like an RX8/550 can motor setup.

I preordered one myself and may run my current 1/10 stuff just to get it going. But it seems like the standard 1/10 escs/motors is going to take a beating to even come close to competitive with a 4wd.

A lot depends on where you race. Large events won't let you use 1/8 electronics in the pro4 class. The mmp works great the rx8 is always blowing up in the 1/8 stuff. I wouldn't think running it in 1/10 would be much different.

I am wanting to know how well that belt will hold up to a 550 motor in the SC10 4x4.

what its belt drive?

Anyways.. Jk.. HAA.

The belt will be fine since they are testing the x12 550 can in the truck.. i dont think they would produce a truck that could not handle it..

I wonder if people are going to mod the belts like the older belt TC guys used to do!? who remembers those days?
