Hard packed High bite Indoor Clay Track
Just curious as what you guys would use on a hard packed high bite indoor clay track after is starts drying out a little and forms a loose dusty top.Slicks are used when it is perfect.Any tread on the tire at that point would be like racing on a sheet of ice.On the other hand, once it starts getting a dusty top, the slicks are like racing on a sheet of ice.

JConcepts Bare Code (gold compound), is usually stuck to the track under those conditions.
I hear the pink HB beams work well also.

going right along woth the theme, Losi BK Bars. I think you'll find the "bar" type tires to be a popular choice on this type of surface.
The real trick is how much pin to run. From the sounds of it a pretty worn down set will be what you're looking for. Enough pin to dig through the dust, but not so much that you are walking around on the pins as they flex.

If slicks work when wet, then its usually a progression of how much pin you need. As the track gets drier, you need more pin. I really like gold barcodes as well. I haven't quite ran slicks but closer to a ghost pin. When a like-new set is starting to give up, its time to switch compounds. After new gold barcodes stop working well, I'll put on blue barcodes.
