Battery connectors
#31
I just started soldering about a month ago and I have not soldered any Deans plugs yet, but I have done about 10-12 Traxxas connectors and the typically turn out perfect.
All I do use a clothes pin to put on the terminal and I clip it at the "no solder" line that way solder won't run past it. I then tin the wire and put a small "glob" of solder on the terminal and then place the wire on it and apply heat until they melt together...might technically be the best way to do it, but it works flawlessly every time and I've yet to have any issues with a connection.
I've actually soldered up 2 of those Turnigy batteries with 8GA wire with no issues using this method also.
Also, I use a 40W Weller iron and it came with a nice and wide chisel tip.

I've looked at using the Traxxas plugs for the 8 guage wire but it didn't look like it would fit. can you post pics of your Traxxas connectors with the 8 guage wire going in?

So that 8 guage wire actually fits in the traxxas connector housing? Does any of the insulated part of the wire fit in the Traxxas housring or do you have to strip it right to the edge of the Traxxas housing?
