I've been using EC5's lately....deans are ok but I like the bigger connectors like the EC5. Gives me a little peace of mind.

+1 bullet connectors, cleanest way to go in my opinion and very simple.

I just soldered up a bunch of EC5's. Great Connector like it's little brother the EC3. In 1/8th I won't be using any other plug from now on but EC5's. In 1/10th scale I won't be using anything but EC3's. These plugs have jump in popularity lately and there is a good reason.

1 drop on the wire end, then heat and tin the wire end
1 drop on the deans connector end - then heat and tin
1 drop again on the deans connector end again - then put tinned wire on - heat and the tinned ends will flow together
Done
I normally just twist the wires together.

Anyone using EC5's with 1/10th scale sct?
I've got an SC10 4x4 build coming up with I think a mamba max pro sct and a 1410 motor and 2S 6200 Mah 60C Lipo
Should I go with EC3 instead?

+1 on EC5's, i've tried traxxas and deans and find the EC5's not only easier to solder but also easier to plug / unplug.

lip - EC3's will be sufficient.

If you are melting deans plugs trying to solder a wire to them then you suck at soldering. period.

Give the XT60's a try. I just finished switching over all my EC3's to XT60's and couldn't be happier. I found with the EC3's I would occasionally have trouble popping the bullet into their housing. I would recommend the EC5 for 10 gauge or larger wire.

+1 for EC5s. They are bullet proof.

+10000 on the xt60s.

I switched all my stuff over to xt60s. Cost me like 50 bucks between all my batteries and cars, etc but very much worth it. They solder up very easily. I tried the EC5s but the bullet kept popping out of the plastic casing.

You can also by xt60s at hobbycity.

The other key to easy soldering is to have a good soldering iron. If you are serious about the hobby, just invest in one of the quality Hakko (or similar brand) irons.

I've never had an EC5 bullet pop out of the casing Did you wait for the bullet to cool before putting it in the casing or did you make sure the bullet was fully pressed into the case? it makes an audible click when pressed all the way ito the housing and once in, they are near impossible to pull out.

are you guys using Xt60's on 1/8 scale?

Or does anyone have a good tip on how to solder perfect connections? I run a MMP and nue/castle 2650 usually with a 3s lipo. But I would like to be able to run 4 to 6s on it afraid to melt the stock connector with my shody soldering.
EC5 are by far the best option for plugs.. but always consider direct runs when possible... the least amount of resistance the better (4mm-6mm direct into lipo's), this will depend on your lipo type and how many.

Yea, never had an EC5 bullet pull out of the casing either. Well, not NOW anyways.
Even tho you think you've installed the connector into the casing, if it don't "click", it's not installed. Ask me how I know.
