Default Went to my first race with my new Slash 4x4 Ultimate...

and I had an absolute blast!!! I hadn't raced RC cars in over 15 years and I decided to keep my new Slash 4x4 Ultimate long enough for me to join the local guys at our snow track over the weekend and then decide if I wanna keep it or not after my first dissapointing bashing run with it last week which people gave me hell for in comparing a Slash to a Flux. In hindsight, a poor way to compare the trucks for sure and being smart, I felt I needed to give the Slash an honest try at a race before give up on it.

Needless to say, I was with the guys for 5 hours have the time of our lives. Sliding, bashing, crashing, flipping, spinning and have an all out ball with our Slash 4x4's. Two more guys are planning on buying 4x4's in the near future so well have at least 7 for our local get togethers. Even more exciting is that we have a track that is gonna be built next to a large and popular automotive restoration facility in town and were hoping to get a track and lighting system installed!!!

I am totally, totally ramped up for spring now, I want winter to be over with! My nerf bars were broken within the first race, so i've got RPM's on the way, along with some Proline caliber tires and whatever my wallet can manage!

I must say-one of the coolest, most fun looking things I have seen in a long time.

Tell your two goon buddies to get out of the middle of the track so you can see!! Looks like a good time.

That was mine, I learned the hard lesson of using stock tires even though the guy at the LHS told me to get calibers.

Get some snow chains. Heck, it would be a riot to require them for all racers?

My first rustler, and my first winter-

I put push pins through the tires and water balloons covering the electronics.

Worked well, until i forgot about the push pins and ran the truck at my brother.

Being from Socal, don't know much about the white stuff, but I have seen videos of guys using tie wraps around the tires thru the rims and seem to work well.

Knowing all to well about the white stuff and ice I can tell you this. We tried the screws in the tire thing two different ways. We used sheetmetal screws, you know the pointy ones that are very sharp on the end. One guy used a length that put at least 1/2 inch of screw outside the tire. These worked well. Another guy used shorter screws 1/4 inch threw the tire maybe, and the short ones simply sucked. We didn't think the length would matter but it did. FYI putting in all those screws is a PITA!! They weigh a ton and I don't have to tell you that it's not the safest thing to have running around at 30mph either! Having done it, IMO it's not worth the hassle but give it a whirl if you want.
