Need advice on choosing motor for XXX-T.
Hi,
I am novice to electric r/c and I would like some advice plz.
I just purchased a Losi XXX-T and I find the need for a more powerful motor.
It is original 19 Turn, and the ESC will handle 15 Turn.
I was thinking about Trinity speed gem 17 Turn or even 15 Turn.
I am mostly bashing, but I will race approx. 4-6 times a year.
I was also wondering If I had to change the pinion if I change the motor ?
Plz comment

If you don't like motor maintenance, go with the Higher 17 turn, it'd be slower but you'd have more run time and less maintenance. However if you don't mind the downsides of lower turn motors and want speed but decreased run times, go with a 15 turn.
Hope that helps you, I love my XXXT, great truck!

Go with a brushless system.Higher initial cost but alot less money and maintince in the longrun.

Their are no brushes to wear out.The only maintince you have is a drop off oil every so often.

A good stock motor will be faster then the 19T kit motor even though it has more turns. The kit motors are about as bad as they come. The speedgems line of motors is good for the price but not as fast as race type motors but again they cost less. A no speed control will help also with lower on resistance but if you want to not spend a lot get a good stock motor for racing and a mild mod for bashing like someone else suggested.
P.S. The gear chart came from my web site.

Yeah, that's the place where it came from.
Casper - did you original site go down? I couldn't find it for the longest time. Luckily I had downloaded the excel spreadsheet.

I moved ISP's form at&t to roadrunner. I am thinking of going to earthlink soon since they will give me more web space so I have not worked on updating all the links I have around the web.
