ROAR has banned a sct tire that's barely released
Saw on their site that they have banned ribbed tires for short coarse trucks. Joncepts only released this tire on Dec 15,2010 and Pro-line still says coming soon.
Did anyone even knew these were available??

I know a few people preordered them. Whoops
Kudos to ROAR for finally getting ahead of something instead of letting it get completely out of hand AND THEN responding like usual.

ROAR banned the color Blue from SCt bodies. How's this any worse?

I love these two company's and have great products but Roar got this one right 110 percent !!!!!! keep the rib tires on the stadium trucks and buggys ... This would take away from the Short Course Theme of racing, good job Roar !!!!!!

I knew that the tires were coming out/already out, but it does not surprise me that ROAR is banning them from ROAR events, but it is easier to keep track of the same kind of tire for the short course trucks, then all they have to do is check and keep the line going at tech. Now that is not to say that club races will not rule out the tire, but I am for drivers using what works on the track they race on.

It's worse because the color blue has no inherent performance advantage on an SCT body. The ribbed tire, however, changes the way an SCT handles and ROAR is going to protect the scale appearance to a degree.
I understand your reference is sarcastic about banning blue, but I don't think it's an accurate comparison.
I agree with ROAR - keeping the tires more "scale" like in appearance is good with me....

I'm pretty sure the only reason the new rule only specified ribs and not the fuzzy & pin tires as well is ROAR didn't put the kabosh on them the first time somebody considered it like they are now. Rather than let front ribs become established and then pull them out, they're preventing it from growing in the first place.
