Default Traxxas slash 2wd with sidewinder 4600?

I have the traxxas slash 2wd and I'm thinking about going with the castle creations 1/10 sidewinder sport esc and the cm36 4600kv motor. What lipo battery should I use? Also what should the gearing be? I would like to run a 3s lipo. To much?

I also have the 2wd Slash but I put in the Mamba Pro w/4600. I'm not too sure if you can run 3s in Sidewinder. As far as gearing, it depends what do you do with it; Race or just terrorize your friends? Mine is setup 14/90 just to keep the temps down. I tried other setups ie: just about everything from 16/86 to 16/90 (and a couple of 22'86,90's) but it runs too hot. You don't want to run the risk of melting wires or demagnitizing motors according to Castle. Hope this gives you some ideas; Merry Christmas!

What are the advantages of the sct system over the sidewinder 4600 system? I need a comparison. And what battery should I run?

the SCT system is 3800kv and the Sidewinder is 4600 kv. My guess of the difference is the SCT wouldn't run as hot and easier to gear. Any decent 2s 5000 Lipo would work fine.

What will the power difference be?

Don't honestly know, but I do know the 4600 is a handful!

Default Update

I installed the sidewinder 4600kv brushless system in my 2wd slash. I took it to my local hobby shop and they programed the esc for me. This truck is really fast with the upgrade. No gearing changes at all. I'm running the 7cell 8.4v NiMH battery. This was a huge upgrade and I am extremely happy with the performance. I may eventually upgrade to a 3s lipo but for now the 8.4v is plenty. And a lot of people claim the sidewinder can't handle the sc trucks, but I disagree. It performs very well. I'm glad I went with this system.

Castles SC system is a 4 pole motor. Some people use this exact motor in the big 4wd SC trucks. While the 4600 motor you're looking at is just a regular 2 pole motor. The 4 pole motor will have a ton more torque. IMO It would be entirely too much motor for a 2wd truck, but if you just want to have fun bashing then yea go for it. It would have a ton more torque then that 4600 motor you're looking at.

Castles SCT system 4 pole motor is the same motor that runs with those big 550 motors that most people use to power their 4wd truck with. If it is powering these big heavy 4wd trucks to crazy speeds, then just think what it would do to a 2wd truck.

I just installed the 4600 system and it flys. No temp issues and I didn't have to make any gearing changes. The 4600 system is perfect for the 2wd slash, it's got plenty of power without being overkill.
